ANTHONYVELARDE::::::
A New York City scene veteran known for his pumpin sets, Velarde's energy on the decks is fueled by the tribal rhythm in his blood. He was exposed to the New York club scene in 1986 getting influenced by djs such as The Latin Rascalls, Little Louie Vega and Tony Humphries. In 1999 Velarde began promoting himself under WickedLiquid. He has headlined across the New York City club circuit and has spun alongside Charles Feelgood, Armin Van Buuren, Steve Porter, Max Graham, Exacta, The Scumfrog, Luis Diaz, Jason Jollins and George Acosta. His other sets alongside these techno gurus, Ben Sims, John Selway, Tim Xavier, Dylan Drazen, Agent Orange, The Advent and Brian Zentz, are proof that progressive, trance and house is not the sole definition of his unique flavor. He has been booked internationally and throughout New York, known especially for his technical and balanced skill rockin’ three turntables transitioning genres giving his pure commitment to his work.
Velarde's love for music can be further seen in his auspicious work to educate listeners about quality electronic dance music and working any dance floor into a frenzy. His aggressive style and seamless mixing have landed him multiple bookings across the continent and earned him the respect and reputation as one of New York’s finest DJ/Producer. He has achieved his goal in adding vibrancy to the scene by continuously making his mark as the DJ to follow.
Science and art are fused through the use of Ableton Live and CDJ's in his sets to merge his diverse collection of genres, original tracks and remixes. He forms a sound completely recognizable as his own and overflows with ideas on-the-fly. His knowledge of new technology has added an entirely cohesive element to his performance. The success of Velarde’s first signed release, "Skyla" with production partner, Mark Alston, is on Acute Records. It blew up dance floors and was being played by the likes of Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo. "A Moment" featuring Carmela was released and was signed under Australia's "Wasted Youth Music". It was listed as top 3 of the week on Pete Tong's Radio One station in the UK with much acclaim by Erik Morillo and Jonathan Peters. A remix for "You’re my Only" featuring Nora Doncheva was just signed onto New York's Double Frequency label. Velarde brings the tribal back into techno with the release of "You Lose" and "Afro-Asiatic" which was picked up by London's Drum Central label and was just released late February 2008. Another remix was recently released for the smash hit
“Addicted†by The Camel Rider and Mark Alston signed onto Wasted Youth Music. Marcelo Casteli from South American House just signed Velarde’s “Gotham Groove†and will be released early May. Aside from the dance music scene, he has completed commercial music projects as well as remixes for the fitness industry.
Expect a signature sound fusing Velarde's understanding of all electronic genres with a strong emphasis on melodies and buildups. He is a shaman on the decks with an ever present and versatile mind.
