'IRIS OBSERVED'
The painting is on four separate natural linen box canvases created using gold and metal leaf and acrylic.110cmx45cm overall approx.
This photograph does it nowhere near justice, I will be publishing a blog with more images called 'The Making of Iris Observed'.
artful because I paint, write, design and film-make and generally get very excited by all things creative, including music and song. I'm told I am an extreme talent; I lack confidence.
I have been creating a new collection of canvas's; painted, with gold leaf. There is already some excitement about them, you may get a preview soon.
(Commissioned work considered on an individual basis - including poetry.)

I
was lucky, I had opportunities that most people didn't when I was growing up. I
lived in
Morocco for a while in my teenage years. It gave me a chance to
see another culture while I was still impressionable and before I'd had my
mind made up about life and all this pre-conceived rubbish that we become
indoctrinated with. The Beauty about being in Morocco as a young traveller other
than the obvious breathtaking art, architecture and landscape; where east meets
west meets Africa, is that as an Islamic country. It allowed me an opportunity
to see a different religion to my own in a way that most people don't have. It
opened my eyes to the fact that people are the same no matter where they come
from in this world of ours; that our skin colour, religion and language make
little impact on humanity: It is the geographical boundaries set by the
political financial persuasions that cause the conflict.
In my late teens and early twenties I lived, studied and worked in Rome. What a fantastic city! As an art student and actress I was spoilt in Roma. The city is awash with art and has a nice little film studio, at Cinnecitta. I worked in the music industry there too, and I have to comment on the Euro-disco sound; it is great fun, it is kind of one of the naffest forms of music, and yet really great if done well, (although sometimes I cringe with embarrassment lol). I earned well, teaching the Italian's how to deliver in what could pass as American-English accents - some of it was priceless comedy at it's best.
I'm not 100 yrs old by the way, just going in that direction.
I suffered a serious head injury some years ago, and it left me with some difficulty that took quite some time to resolve. So, if you can keep my attention for longer than the memory span of a small fish, you are probably incredibly talented.
My Blog is a mixture of Poetry, Philosophy (life according to me ...lol) and Lyrics.
People might think it odd that a gal like me writes some harsh rap lyric, but you know what:
Rap is some of the freshest most inspired poetry of the last 100 years, and a great way to share or vent and for a lady to be most un-ladylike, (sniggering into hand), read it and weep.
Not all the lyrics are rap.
I enjoy commentary and to hear your views on my blog.
I will only refuse a comment that I feel is highly discriminative or offensive in nature, or an obvious advertisement; anything that alters my view, or opens up friendly debate is very welcome.
I make people uncomfortable with honesty.
I can't abide liars Or cruelty.
Don't attack me and not expect me to defend myself. As Shakespeare said and I agree; the pen is so much mightier than the sword!
In the last two years, I have successfully opened and miserably closed an art gallery. I have shown controversial work alongside my famous "paintings for aunty" (currently hanging in a collection near you). I have received orders to close shows and I've received inquiries on works from internationally renowned institutions and collections alike.
I've asked some very difficult questions of some very prominent people.
I don't publish exerts of my broader serious work here....at the moment.....ummmm. Watch this space. Or, buy the novel (soon), or wait for the movie.
I am currently writing a novel. It is a thriller and very dark. I'm trying to tell a story which also in part examines the human potential for learned behaviour versus psychosis, and how much responsibility society should take for some psychotic behaviour. Anyway I can't say too much without giving the plot away, however it is one of the reasons I enjoy writing the blog regularly at the moment as it helps me to lift my mood at the end of my writing day.
All In the day of a brain damaged artful then.
