BOB NEWT….was born in San Francisco, started singing at the age of seven and wrote his first song at ten. By age fifteen he and his brothers, who were known as The Newtron’s landed a major deal with MCA and found themselves on Soul Train and Video Soul and touring the country with the likes of Guy and Jodeci in support of their self titled debut album The Newtrons. The album was mildly successful, but the label, excited about their potential, was looking forward to doing a big push for their sophomore effort. Unfortunately, that sophomore album would never be released as tragedy struck the family. Bob’s twin, Ronnie, was shot and killed and that was the end of the group and the beginning of Bob’s descent into his own personal hell. To deal with the pain he self medicated, not with drugs, but a just as dangerous addiction, sex. As a result he found himself, at the ripe old age of 23, the father of five children by four different women, but even that didn’t curb his reckless behavior.Eventually he moved back to Los Angeles where he struggled to break back into the music business, but when that stalled he turned back to what he knew, reckless behavior. He began romancing a bevy of young women who kept him laced in the hottest fashions, the brightest jewels and driving luxury vehicles. Yet with all the material possessions one could wish for, he still felt an emptiness, an emptiness that couldn’t be filled with women, sex, or money. He was searching for something, anything that to fill that void. His search led him to open up to a friend, a friend whose relationship with Jesus was on another level, and that friend led him to the church where Bob says “once I walked in, I knew it was where I needed to be, walking through those doors changed my life.†After a few months of embedding himself in the word and taking responsibility for his prior mistakes he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, gave up the women and all the trappings that came with them and settled into a happy marriage. This collection of songs, Bob’s most honest work to date, is a testimony to the struggles he fought and the tragedies he survived. Produced by Erik Griggs of The Underdogs, these songs with their inspirational lyrics layered over R&B and hip hop tracks will inspire and entertain the youth and make the older generation nod their head in agreement to the truths being told. Songs like My Testimony, where Robert opens up about the reckless life he was living, his own personal pain and the pain he caused others, Hey Lil Homie where he reaches out to a young man headed down a tragic path, and Fallen where he sings about having victory over sexual temptation will uplift those needing to be uplifted and give hope to the hopeless.Once a hopeless, faithless young man himself, Bob now realizes that God allowed him to go through his trials and tribulations so that his testimony would show others how through Jesus Christ you can have victory over all circumstances.***
