We Love Live Music!

About Me

For nearly two years the Capitol Music Series has hosted great live music in the Greeneville area on the first Saturday of each month. The directors of the music series announce the cancellation of the series, which will include cancellation of the remaining shows of the 2008 season. Recent circumstances surrounding the foreclosure of the Capitol Theatre resulted in shifting the events to The Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Center on the campus of Tusculum College. A good deal of confusion has resulted. Many in the community have perceived that the closure of the theatre meant the music series had come to an end as well. It proved impossible to change that perception and create a consistent image and brand once the series was forced to move. The interest in bluegrass and roots music is obviously growing, with the genre becoming ever more popular. As directors of the series we look forward to eventually forming another series, festival or group of events for the community to enjoy at a more opportune time.
Anyone who has purchased tickets to an upcoming performance will receive a refund for their purchase. For those who purchased advance tickets at the box office, please email [email protected] and we will check our records and provide refunds accordingly.
A special thank you goes out to sponsors who had made the series possible over the two year run. Those sponsors include: Sue Ritter – Sunbridge Realty, Susong Pharmacy, DTR, Realty Executives, Crashbox Creative, The General Morgan Inn and The Greeneville Sun. Without these sponsors the series would not have been able to bring nationally touring acts to the stage. The support of the staff at Tusculum College, especially Frank Mengel, is also greatly appreciated. The last two shows would not have been possible without the work to make a quick transition to the new venue. Thanks also to the volunteers who helped to make the series successful. The support of the thousands of fans who attended the performances and supported live music is also greatly appreciated!
