HHY Scumclash

jonathan Saldanha or hhy_scumclash, is one of the individual entities lurking in the engine room of the Porto-based SOOPA collective (www.soopa.org myspace.com/soopaserver) and Mécanosphère (myspace.com/mecanosphere1 ).
A multi-specter instrumentalist and producer, Jonathan is a part of numerous bands ( such as Mécanosphère, F.R.I.C.S., United Scum Soundclash, Herzbeat Hotel, Çuta Kebab and Party, Beast Box), working also on various improvisational projects and on music released under his own name – namely in ongoing collaborations (lots) – and finally going on extensive tours of Portugal’s indian restaurants and weddings, as a tabla player (he studied tradicional indian music, the tabla being his first and main instrument).
hhy Scumclash is a “one man show” bringing together, the multiple aspects of his sonic and al-khimia obsessions, which can be found, in one form or another, in all of the collective projects he takes part in. What can be said is that it sounds like a landslide of broken tapes, who embrace the sound of Ra, with voodoo and Carnatic mental drones.
