"N.Y.C. is great and HOLY SHIT can Tommy play guitar!"...Angelina Jourgensen (VP 13th Planet Records and Manager of Ministry)
Press Release January 2008
2007 was a landmark year for N.Y.C., as it saw the completion of the full- length cd “ZYKOâ€. This CD guarantees to deliver on all the slammin’ hype that follows N.Y.C. At press time the CD is being mastered by Grammy- nominated engineer Mike Lazer at Paramount Studios. Look for many upcoming endorser ads supporting the release with a nationwide tour to follow.
This year also saw 17 guitar clinics featuring Tommy. After doing 7 Southern California Sam Ash clinics (April), the response was so overwhelming that ESP and Morley sent Tommy to Florida in August to do 5 more Sam Ash clinics. After more positive reviews poured in, ESP sent Tommy back to Florida for 5 more clinics at big independent dealers.
More ESP clinics are planned/confirmed for 2008.
Also on the promotion end, GHS Strings has printed/pictured the cover of Tommy’s instructional DVD “Metal Primer†along with N.Y.C. links inside 60,000 sets of strings currently shipping worldwide. This coincides with a full page feature ad set to run very soon.
N.Y.C.’s newest endorser Guitar Wheel has totally ramped up the promo game. In addition to running ads with Tommy consistently through ‘07 in Guitar World and Guitar Player, he has also contributed a feature lesson to their upcoming Guitar Wheel book soon to be published by Hal Leonard. This book also includes a DVD segment with Tommy explaining the wheel. To view this segment go to www.guitarwheel.com
In June Tommy was personally asked by George Lynch to participate as a bh guest instructor at his LA Dojo Summit for his online teaching academy. The event was a huge success and future summits are planned.
Also look for Chaz to be featured in an online eBay auction sponsored by Pintech Percussion. This promotion includes autographed N.Y.C. and Pintech merchandise to be auctioned off for charity. Past auction participants include Lamb of God, Linkin Park, Hootie and The Blowfish and Seether among others.
June also saw a reunion with Tommy and former band mate Doro Pesch onstage at the legendary Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood. The following is a quote from the LA Times review by Greg Burk 6/22/07 “ for the encore, bearded wildman guitarist Tommy Bolan, once of Warlock, stepped up to flay his axeâ€.
N.Y.C. would also like to welcome its newest full endorsers to the race team: Alvarez Acoustics, Celestion, Guitar Wheel, Accutronics, and Farley Essentials. N.Y.C. now has a mind- blowing 48 full endorsors supporting the machine.
Lastly a special N.Y.C. “Shout Out†of thanks to: Tone Pros, Graph Tech, Sabine, Q-Parts, TUK Shoes, GHS Strings, and Guitar Wheel for all their additional clinic support.
So, when “ZYKO†drops prepare yourself for 2008 to be the BIGGEST F*%KIN’ N.Y.C. YEAR YET!!!!!!
Blasting like a 10 ton Nuclear Weapon, N.Y.C. is Loud, Aggressive, and Very Pissed Off. No whining.....Just Fed Up and Disgusted at how good everyone else has it while waiting under a "Self-Stitched Smooth Blanket of Hate"....Waiting to turn Negative Energy into Positive Results....Waiting to Rise from the Gutter of contempt.
"We wanted to write songs that were real to us, that could vent our aggression while at the same time exercise our demons of insanity....." states Tommy, N.Y.C. Vocalist/Guitarist. "I'm the guy on the New York street corner screamin' about everything and you'll FEEL that intensity in our live show."
Chaz states "Tommy and I started this band because we are both pissed off people and what better way to let it out than onstage. I'm able to function normally day to day because I get to beat the piss out of my drums, which I need to do!" Also featuring Stowe on Bass, N.Y.C. slams with aggressive grooves and fierce vocals that cut to the nerve.
