About Me
DARIUS IS "IN YOUR FACE"
Uncompromising, talented and dedicated. This Birmingham, Alabama native has been performing since the age of eight, spittin'dat fire since eleven and producing songs for the last eight years. It comes as no surprise that he has put all else aside to find what he calls"The next level".
"I don't know what the next level is for me," He says
"People show me so much love when I go out. When I really think about it I'm like wow! Is this what it is like, Is this real?"
Darius commands attention, on any track, on any stage. It takes him less than thirty seconds to win any audience over.Yes! He is the real deal. His refined delivery and poetic approach to song writting has captivated the minds and hearts of those who listened. This among many other things is what elevates Darius beyond his competition.
"When I sit down and listen to a beat, my goal is not to make a hit record. My goal is to make the best music that I can make......" Darius says
He goes on to say
"I just wana get my passion across in every song I do. I stopped worrying about numbers a long time ago because I'm not doing this for me. Im trying to show niggas that its ok to be who you are. If you stay true to who you are and believe in what you doin' the money gone come. Most niggas who rap are just personifying lyrics form other artist. People lie about shit in songs all the time. It is 100% me in everysong . It's ok to be original"
Darius's profesional portfolio includes several albums and a plethora of mix tapes and collaborations.
"Sex and Violence chapter 1"(2004)
"The Remedy"(2005),
"Down South Street Legends" (2006).
Most recently Darius was featured on"205504 The New Zip Code"(2007), an experimental project with, three very skilled Mc's(Legend, wykid,Streets,) wreckin' over production by Wykid aka Young Fuxion.
"Yea that 205504 CD is out right now. It has a real jazzy/ laid back vibe to it.
It was the first official album to Drop on "MINDBLOWIN" ENTERTAINMENT." I am real happy with that one because we showed how niggas from different backgrounds and up bringings can come together and do good music."Darius says,
Also known as "D" "Tragedee" "Y.Legend""Legend"and "YoungLegend", when asked why some many names he responded,
"Ya know a rapper is only as good as he is relevant. I change my name to stay relevent in music. When i was younger, still trying to find my voice I use to change names every week. I took the name "Tragedee" earlier in my career when I was really into writing poetry and plays, get it..... like a Shakspere tragedy? Now i go mostly by my real name.
I started using "YoungLegend" in 2004, because that is what i felt i was at the time. People use to stop me in the streets telling me now good i was. Dem white boys would be like Dude! Why are you here, you need to be famous.
It never went to my head though. Recently, I Dropped the "Young". Now I'm just rocking with the "Legend", because that is what I aspire to be now. I want to leave a great legacy when im gone!"
After taking the last year to get things in order,Darius is now working on writing, directing and starring in his own film, set for release late 2008 which will include a soundtrack.
"This film and sound sound track will hopefully give me the momentum i need to really get my company off the ground or atleast get some major exces looking my way. I am in the process of developing the characters so that you get a real genuine feel when you see the movie. " Darius says
While he is reluctant to go into details about the plot, Darius promises "love, tragedy, truth, happiness, deceit, plenty eye candy and last but not least retribution. When asked for more details he simply smiles and says,
"I wont dissapoint"He elaborates
"I dont want this to be just another low budget black film. I want people to see the movie and hear the sound track and get inspired. Don't get me wrong...I'ma still have some gangsta shit in there, but not for any other reason but to show the harsh realities facing the black male in the south. Yea, some people think it might be to graphic, cause i tried not to water the shit down, but this is a story that must be told in its entirety."
While the industry eagerly awaits his upcomming projects. This self proclaimed "Legend" remains a fierce contender in the southern Hip Hop arena.
"It's too many people countin on me. I could retire now and be satisfied, but right now this is not about me. It's bigger than me."
