Marlon Spears, producer/composer/pianist, is a sight for sore eyes. Being blind since birth, Marlon is a testament to the fact that "being blind is a state of mind, not a physical hindrance." At the age of 12, Marlon realized his passion for music and began playing the saxophone. After mastering the saxophone by the age of 16, Marlon found an interest in piano. Though he took professional piano lessons for a year, most of his piano skills are self taught. Marlon also majored in Music Technology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he graduated with honors.Marlon's passion for music goes far beyond just being a great musician. To him, music is a way of life. Marlon envisions the art of sound through his music, which can be heard in every composition. Now, the owner of SpearSound Productions, Marlon is in the process of completing his debut cd. The album, entitled "Ridin'", consists of eight original instrumental jazz compositions and two popular cover tunes that he has rearranged to add his own laid back, jazzy flavor. One of the original compositions, entitled "Greatness", is a tribute to Stevie Wonder, the main influence in Marlon's decision to pursue a career in music.Marlon's single is available for purchase now. The single consists of 2 songs, an instrumental remake of 'Love Won't Let Me Wait' and the title track, 'Ridin'. The entire CD will be released on March 30, 2007.
