Khashayar Azar is the son of Shahram Azar and Sheila Shahzeidi. He was brought up in a multi racial family which exposed him to many different types of music right from childhood. His passion for music was seen at an early age. At the age of four Khashayar had been self taught on the Organ, playing songs seen on the television and or cartoons.
Although it was prior to that age that his musical talent was noticed by his family.
“He used to go into the kitchen and take out all the bowls and pans, placing them on the floor. He would then grab two wooden spoons and use them as drum sticks on the bowls.†Says mother, Sheila Azar.“In pre-school I always used to sing for the class. It was all good and my teacher seemed to like it too. I do remember on one occasion before class had started my classmates had asked me to sing (Dokhtar Chadori by Shahram Shabpareh) I had barely started the song when I remember flying over everyone’s head! The principal himself had seen me, picked me up from the back and threw me across the classroom. The man had no taste...lol!!!"
Khashayar Azar.At the age of six, Khashayar immigrated to Germany and finally reunited with his father Shahram. Living in a small town, Khashayar quickly had to adjust to the different surroundings. “It was tough at the beginning. I hated it. I missed my family, my friends and my school back home.†Khashayar Azar.
At that time SANDY had just released their second album and was gaining a lot of attention in the industry. With songs such as “Aroosi Bandari, Dokhtar Daei, Boro Baba, Dokhtar e Hadji Almas†and more, SANDY’s fame was beginning to grow.
With his father, Khashayar traveled to many shows throughout Europe, observing his father’s every move.
It was not until a couple of years later when Shahram Azar started working with Ebi who was facing a tough career at that time. Shahram became Ebi’s band leader and together they went on tour. Khashayar remembers being in the RV with Sandy and Ebi traveling through Germany on many different occasions.
“You could say I grew up in this industry. Ever since I kid I was surrounded by musicians, song writers, singers, promoters, managers and about everyone who was involved in the music business one way or the other.†Khashayar Azar.
By the time SANDY had released their third album, DING DANG, everyone knew who Sandy was. With hits such as “Sighe, Pari Pari, Yo Yo Yo, Dokhtar Ahvazi aka Emsho Shoeshe, Bikari†and more, Sandy had now clearly managed a name for itself and had fans all around the world.
“I remember during Ebi’s shows people would scream out “Emsho Shoeshe!†“SANDY! SANDY!†“Pari Pari!†and many times Ebi had to stop whatever what he was doing and ask my dad to perform a song for the crowd. I think that was the trigger for my dad to stop being on stage with Ebi and doing his own thing.†Khashayar Azar.
During those days Khashayar performed with Sandy occasionally on certain shows. Songs like “Boro Baba†were performed together by Shahram and Khashayar who was about 11 years old at that time.
Khashayar also performed with Shahram Shabpareh in 1993 in Bonn, Germany in front of a crowd of 3000 people. “Shahram was very nice. When I told him that I was a big fan of his, he asked me to perform a song with him. My choice was “Dokhtar Chadoriâ€.
