Band Members:The Boss Man AKA Matt WhileyThe lovely Barbara gave birth to an ugly looking kid on the 6th may 1980 and decided to call her Rebecca. After a few weeks, Rebecca's parents realised that Rebecca was actually a boy and called him Matthew (this was down to looks not genitals). From there onwards, Matthew went to Whitegate Primary, then on to Harry Harry Carlton comp.Due to the fact Matthew was a troublemaker in his teenage years, his grades at school suffered, hence he was in danger of becoming a drop out. However, one day out of nowhere Matthew picked up a cricket bat and realized his dream……he wanted to play football. He wasn't very good at that so he stuck with cricket. From 18 onwards Matthew turned into somewhat of a genius on the cricket field (his words, not the authors) representing England under 18s and under 19s. He also played in the first team for Nottinghamshire, before moving on to Leicester. The Leicester years were Matthew's most fruitful years with the ball, playing three years in all forms of the game, in all campaigns.Matthew was picked for the England academy but after picking up a shoulder injury was, to put it bluntly, on the cricket scrap heap. After professional cricket, Matthew changed his name to Matt and moved on to Bartending. Something which, to be fair, he’s pretty good at (not amazing but very good), working at bar Humbug and then on to Skin, which is where he resides now as a manager.DJs John Beckett John Beckett Grew up in a small town called Nelson near Burnley, Lancashire. He started DJing at the tender age of 15 when, having purchased his first set of turntables, he began to master the art of spinning records. He managed to obtain many gigs at an early age, playing at clubs such as Club XPO in Burnley, Bluenote in Todmerden and the Observatory in Leeds. After taking his first trip to Ibiza in 1999, he became instantly addicted (and not just to the island)! John went back out there working for 2 seasons, starting off doing PR then finding his way as a DJ and doing pretty well, workin at bars such as Bar M, Bar Itaca, Kanya Bar, Coastline Cafe and Play2. John picked up the much-coveted award for ‘best newcomer in Ibiza 2002’ before moving to Nottingham at the start of 2004.The past three years has seen John help Skin Bar go from strength to strength as resident DJ.Makai’Product’ Resident Makai is a digital mixologist, using fly by wire technology to create flawless laptop sets through a bank of effects units and midi controllers that makes the helm of the Starship Enterprise look like something from the past!Makai, is undoubtedly one of the hottest up and coming DJ's emerging on the midlands scene. A well established DJ within the city of Nottingham, he has a wealth of experience in DJing having built his way up through the bar scene.Having taken his Breaks and Tech House sound all over Nottingham, playing at almost every bar worthy of mentioning, his big break came when playing at the infamous Bomb in April 2005, co-running and promoting his own night ‘Product’. When the Bomb was forced to close later that year the night moved to the then newly opened Nottingham Uber-club Stealth, where Makai is still resident to this day.Playing a mixture of music ranging from Breaks to Tech House whilst encompassing Indie remixes and Club Classics for his bar sets, Makai's unique mix of music shows a diversity and knowledge of electronic music clearly evident in his sets.
