About Me

Milly Johnson Barnsley, South Yorkshire, GB Thirty… okay… forty-something Milly Johnson is from good old Yorkshire mining stock – apart from the half that has a Glasweigan ma. Born and bred in Barnsley, she studied drama at Exeter University, qualified as a teacher then did a truly sensible thing and became a trainee accountant. Other jobs range from model (age 6, Jessie’s Wool Shop extravaganza at Sheffield Road Baptist church); working for various psychopaths in offices to humour and traditional verse writer for the greetings card industry. Now she is very proud to say that she is a fully fledged novelist. And a bird that understands the offside rule!

REALITY CHECK

Would you ask a perfect stranger how much they earned? Probably not - and yet author's advances are, seemingly, expected to belong to the public domain. I've just done another interview where I've h...

Back to the Grindstone

I took the summer off. It's been such a hard year what with court cases and job re-shuffles that my head needed to breathe and no better place to do that than on a ship, in my opinion. A fortnight o...

NOTICE OF ENGAGEMENT (if his wife will let him)

Amazing how little it takes to change life - a well-timed flower, a single word of kindness, Hernan Crespo being my mate on Myspace. Yes of course I'm thrilled, providing of course it's genuine an...
