‘Furthur’ the enigmatic destination painted on the front of the psychedelic bus who’s occupants, could be given credit for some of the most significant changes in 20th century culture. Author Ken Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters were at the forefront of the 1960’s psychedelic movement that was, and is still responsible for some of the greatest music ever written.
Canterbury has a renowned musical history strongly associated with this same movement, dubbed the ‘Canterbury Sound’ famous for late 60’s early 70’s avant-garde progressive rock, infused with jazz and psychedelia, made famous by such pioneers as Soft Machine, Gong, Caravan and Hatfield and the North.
It is such heritage that has inspired Furthur Productions.
