I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I came out of nowhere and I expect to return to the same location. While here, I try to be good to my friends and understand everyone else. I've been a millhand, a baker, a student, a teacher; lost, found, disoriented and hot on the track. I've had a lot of work published: poetry, fiction, journalism, satire, horoscopes, essays, interviews and odd little things without categories. I used to edit a small magazine. If I rejected your poem, it was nothing personal. If I have nothing else to do I like to read. I enjoy walking, preferrably where there is something to see. I've noticed that there is always something to see, even if you have to use your imagination. It's good to use your imagination. It might even be essential.

My Interests

Wild plants, water, animals, practical things, traveling, getting the story straight.I have a liking for things that go well together. I appreciate the benefits of patience. I want to know things about where I am, who I'm with, what I might do next. I'm interested in whether the rodents of the arctic will feel right next spring when they emerge from hibernation. I wonder why everybody has a car, especially those with nowhere to go. What's wrong with moving a little slower? I'm interested in empirical proofs, but more interested in intuitive grasp.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet the person who invented cheese. I'd like to meet myself coming back the other way.I really don't like to just meet people, I like to get to know them. I'd like to meet someone in the park later.I'd like to meet you but I wouldn't feel I know you until we'd faced some sort of challenge together.I'd like to meet the tide. I'd like to meet or exceed expectations. I'd like to meet some more of those folks who rub you the wrong way at first but later turn out to be so talented and energetic and focused that they were not really being arrogant, but preoccupied. Turning over some raw egg of the mind while the rest of us go stumbling in and out of doors acting important. I'd like to meet some people who can really tell it like it is. A few more of those, please.

Music:

I love music

Movies:

The Godfather I and 2, The Ox-Bow Incident, The Man With No Past, etc.

Television:

Television? It's a black hole, a disaster, and a travesty.

Books:

The entire ouevre of William T. Vollman. Likewise Jim Harrison, Eduardao Galeano, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Cormac McCarthy, Gertrude Stein, Rachel Carson, Sharon Doubiago, Leonard Cirino, Pablo Neruda, Count Tolstoy. Violette Leduc, Ken Kesey (especially Sometimes A Great Notion), and quite a few others.

Heroes:

I have a hard time with the idea of heroes. At different times I've been favorably impressed and influenced by a great many people for different reasons.
