Bob Dylan says the quality of modern recordings is "atrocious," and even the songs on his new album sounded much better in the studio than on disc."I don't know anybody who's made a record that sounds decent in the past 20 years, really," the 65-year-old rocker said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.Dylan, who released eight studio albums in the past two decades, returns with his first recording in five years, "Modern Times," next Tuesday.Noting the music industry's complaints that illegal downloading means people are getting their music for free, he said, "Well, why not? It ain't worth nothing anyway.""You listen to these modern records, they're atrocious, they have sound all over them," he added. "There's no definition of nothing, no vocal, no nothing, just like ... static."Dylan said he does his best to fight technology, but it's a losing battle."Even these songs probably sounded ten times better in the studio when we recorded 'em. CDs are small. There's no stature to it."BANDS I LIKE Led Zeppelin, The Cure, Talking Heads, New Order, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, G n' R, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Ottis Redding, Curtis Mayfield, Tubeway Army, System of a Down, The Smashing Pumpkins, Two Robert Plant solo albums, Black Sabbath, The Screaming Trees, Queen, Sepultura, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Donovan, Ministry, Mk II Deep Purple, White Zombie, Bill Withers, Tool, Radio Head, Rush, Cream, The Police, Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac, Rory Gallagher, R.E.M., Rage Against the Machine, The Band, Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Nash, Buffalo Sprinfield, The Specials, The Small Faces, Free, Queens of the stone age, Jeff Buckley, Tim Buckley, Deftones, (old) Korn, NIN, Tears for Fears, Sisters of Mercy, Pearl jam, Dinosaur Jr.,Duran Duran, The Hendrix, Tricky, Moby, Beck, Live, AC/DC, The Deftones, The Clash, Blondie, The Beta Band, Air, Sigur Ros, Alice in Chains, Blood Sugar era Chilies, Weezer, Machine Head, (some) Panthera, A Perfect Circle, The Black Crows, PIL, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet, Masters of Reality, Mark Lanegan, Electric Six, Flaming Lips, The Violent Femms, Therapy?, The Smiths, John Carpenter Movie Scores, Miles Davis, STP, Thin Lizzy, John Martyn, David Bowie, The Pixies, The Kinks, The Jam, Love, Jack Bruce, Throwing Muses, The Presidents of the United States of America, Orange Goblin, Royksop, Tom Waits, Type O, The Melvins, Nick Cave, The Blue Nile, Elliott Smith, The Stooges, Al Green, Van "astral weeks the man" Morrison, James Brown, The JB's, King Crimson, The Boss, Roxy Music, HerbertDUBLIN BANDSThose Damned Junkie DeejaysSeptember SunMike Got SpikedCheck them out people.. width="425" height="350" .... width="425" height="350" ..
I grew up watching Arnie films like comando, predator, total recall, the running man, conan, terminator and shit like that plus Aliens, the Blues Brothers and Ferris Bulers day off over and over and over again, they say voilent films can warp a kids fragile little mind, but i turned out fine, and i will saw the head off of anyone who disagrees... width="425" height="350" ..These days i'm watching everything i can get my hands on, because i'm hoping to do film production in collage next year. I still like explosions, but my taste has gotten better, check this out Zabriski point.. width="425" height="350" ..At the moment the films i've got the fondest memories of and therefore are, i suppose my favourites include, pretty much everything by the cohen brothers, being john malkovich, me myself & irene, and stuff like that.If i'm just looking for some mindless entertainment, i'd probably just stick on some dumb crap like zoolander again. Artistically weak but heaps of fun. If i'm in a more serious mood, i like to watch films that are a little more challanging, Dancer in the dark, Sling blade etc...
Family guy, Southpark, Simpsons, old shows that were on all the time when i was a kid like the A-Team and Knightrider, though i find myself watching less and less television everyday, about the only current show i watch is Deadwood, oh and a special mention for The Mighty Boosh (i'm still trying to figure out id i think it's funny or not) and trailer park boys which is the shit. Arrested Development is also genius, and meet the magoons is brilliant too. Oh and Freakazoid the best cartoon of all time..... width="425" height="350" .... width="425" height="350" ..
