Brendon Mitchell

I first started playing music around 5 or 6 years ago when I was still at school. My brother had always been musical and I inherited his old keyboard, and spent my time trying to cover songs by parents' favourite groups, such as The Shadows and The Hollies. Then about 3 years ago I wrote my first song; Christmas Lights. Since that point, I've been writing music regularly. Having never had a music lesson in my life and being unable to read music, I'm completely self taught on both the piano and guitar. I've also started to write basslines and drum-patterns for my songs. I write music and lyrics as a way of expressing and releasing emotions and feelings in a way only music can allow. Writing songs has already helped me to get over many disappointments and hurdles in my relatively short life. It's my way. Away from music, I'm a 20-year-old journalism student at Bournemouth University on the south coast of England. Born and bred in the beautiful surroundings of rural Somerset, I grew up with a love for sport, music and writing. I'm young, ambitious and motivated. Don't forget my name.
