About Me

All bios seem to start out the same way, with some kind of pretentious, pseudo-philosophical question like, "What happens to the world of music when a man of such diverse ethnicity and a multitude of musical talent enters the scene?". Well, Jon Lall does have talent, this is true. He does have quite the ethnic backrground (Indian/Pakistani/Spanish/Portugese). But what he wants you to know about him more than anything is he is a man of the people. Never wanting to be misrepresented, and most certainly never to be thought untouchable, Jon Lall is the party, and everyone is invited. Many people have wondered where this virtually unknown 23 year old singer/songwriter has come from. Well its a anything but a simple and quick story. Born and raised in New Jersey, Jon was the youngest of two kids. His parents are very hard working blue collar people and have made sure to give him everything he ever needed. "My mom and dad always wanted me to have everything they couldn't, like a lot of parents do. But the thing is, they never had the means to do it, but they certainly tried all the time. Grownin up watchin somethin like that makes you realize your responsibilities in life very fast." Jon's older brother, Sam, who he sites as one of his biggest influences in life, always encouraged him to follow his dreams. But it wasn't until after two years of college that Jon realized what he had to do. "I was sittin in a psychology class on the first day of what would be my last semester, and we were all asked what we saw ourselves doin in five years. Thats when I realized I had no other choice but go after this music thing full force."The music samples that you have heard are just a small representation of his gifted and skillful writing abilities. Jon has written for several artists in many different genres of music, including Hip Hop/R&B, Neo-Soul, and Pop/Rock. He has been attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music for two years now and credits his experiences there to his unique and ever-evolving style. "I remember when I got there (Berklee) I was very quickly humbled. I thought I knew music. I got schooled quick. I realized I needed to open my ears and listen if I was ever gonna make music that could effect the world." Jon's music influences run the gamut from R&B to Rock. The Beatles, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Jimi Hendrix, Steely Dan, Stevie Ray Vaughn are just a few of the classics. Yet a lot of today's music has also effected him such as Craig David, Usher, D'Angelo, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Kanye West, Kim Burrell, J. Moss, and many, many others. "I don't think it would be possible to list every influence that has hit me. I can say that without my brother and my peoples, there wouldn't be me."The streets are talkin, and the word is gettin out there. This kid has got it, and is not gonna stop until everyone out there has been touched by his music. Ladies and Gentlemen, Jon Lall is here, and ready to give y'all a lot of flava.
