Rock 'N' Roll, big scary cars, guitars (ooooh, I love guitars....), reading real books (no shite, mind you), discovering new things and meeting new people.
People who don't turn out to be a total waste of air and skin after a while. Mostly they're dead, so I wouldn't imagine much action in that department, really. If I could meet those people, they'd be John Lennon, George Harrison, Elvis, Karl Marx, Robert Johnson and Brian Jones, but chief among these would be the great Kirsty MacColl. Some of the living ones would be : The Dalai Lama, Steve Earle, Ken Livingstone, Ringo Starr, Geri Halliwell (we've all got our little foibles..., Michael Schumacher and Nelson Mandela.
And another of my musical idols has just taken the stage at the Great Gig In The Sky (TM). Check this out...
Thanks, Luciano Pavarotti. You were and are still the best.
Son Of A Bitch, Guns 'N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, New Model Army, The Stones, The Beatles, Kirsty MacColl, Steve Earle, Dylan, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd, William Elliot Whitmore, Aerosmith, Dream City Film Club, The Donnas, Supersuckers, Raging Speedhorn, Monster Magnet, Hallucinogen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Twisted Tales, The Tommys,, Smoke Like A Fish, Voodoo Johnson, Arceye, The Sisters Of Mercy, Dolly Parton, ZZ Top, Mark Lannegan, The Pogues, The Clash, Ministry, Tool, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Velvet Revolver, Kyuss, Motorhead, the MC5, Johnny Cash, Nirvana and Mastodon. These are in no order and are by no means exclusive - perhaps I'll keep adding as I remember just how many bands make me weak at the knees....
Make your own Banner Here!
Good ones. Generally nothing where explosions, tits and CG take the place of other essentials, eg. a plot and some real dialogue. Star Wars (the old ones, naturally), Full Metal Jacket, Babette's Feast, Twin Town, Get Carter etc all have a special place in my heart.
is generally shit, and I rarely have time to watch it. I do, however, have a weakness for QI and Top Gear.
Some books are good. Others aren't. I like those which are about real things, or fiction that's so gritty you can't ignore it.
[Insert Deity of your choice], Terry Pratchett, Steve Earle, Kirsty MacColl, Douglas Bader, Stevie Ray Vaughn, my Mum, Kerry and Steve Houlker, The Tommys (awesome ladies, awesome band), H and also anyone who has the courage to fight the small, everyday battles we don't hear about.
