"Stooping down, dipping my wings, I came unto the Darkly-spendid abodes... and yet there in that dark and formless Abyss... was I made a partaker of the Mysteries averse" (Aleister Crowley).
Abyssian Desolation ( Liverpool, UK ) was originally concieved of in april 2004, and a two track promo was recorded almost straight away with Paul playing all instruments. The purpose of the promo was just to get the name around on the underground scene and to try and help recruit full-time members. The promo, which was hastily recorded on an old Tascam 8-track console was only passed out amongst a few people on the scene and was never "officially" released as Shortly after this Paul was asked to sing for another UK Black Metal band and Abyssian Desolation had to be put on hold for well over 18 months. After many gigs with the likes of Avulsed, Ancient, Blood-duster and Ancient Rites as well as the 2006 'Infernal Damnation Fest' Paul parted ways with this BM band earlier this year, and decided to return to Abyssian Desolation once more.
The tracks available here are 'Serenity... Succumb To Thorns' and 'Crown Of Forever', both taken from the promo of 2004.
Both conceptually and lyrically, Abyssian Desolation takes inspiration from Left-Hand Path Occultism, Rabbinic Demonology and psychedelic drugs, and owes a great deal to the mystical writings of Aleister Crowley, Kenneth Grant and Austin Osman Spare (as well as the surreal art of both Spare and Salvador Dali).A full CD Demo is to be released early in 2007. In the meantime, if there are any guitarists, bassists, drummers or keyboard players who live in Liverpool or surrounding areas and would be interested in joining Abyssian Desolation please get in touch.
