It is not often that I pop in an album by a band Ive never heard of and am blown away, but such was the case with TYPHUS stellar black metal debut PROFOUND BLASPHEMOUS PROCLAMATION. This is it, my friends. Sitting comfortably alongside Grand Belials Key Judeobeast Assasination as the best black metal album ever made in the U.S., PROFOUND BLASPHEMOUS PROCLAMATION is smart, well-played black metal with steaming fistfuls of metals most important ingredients: personality and creativity.
Although the song titles are overtly vulgar Black Cum On The Faces Of Angels or Anal Rape Of The Virgin Mary for example -- The music is smart and well-crafted. Some musical reference points are Moonblood and Nargaroth (melody), Immortal (harmony), Impiety (Vulgarity) and Belphegor (performance/delivery), but never was there a moment when I heard something stolen. Chief writer/guitarist/singer Lord Typhus
writes tunes in both simplistic and fairly technical modes and succeeds in both styles with aplomb. His blasted vocal persona gives some human character to the cold proceedings, as does the tight yet spontaneous drumming by Moon.
Album highlight tracks: the punishing Typhus Shits In The Mouth Of Christ, the delirious , smeared climax of which is truly exhilarating and the phenomenal (and ironically titled) Profound Blasphemous Proclamation, the arrangement of which
is tough and successful. The melancholic closing of Your Savior Caught Drinking The Piss Of The Apostles brings to mind Elite or Taake at their best (which is to say beautiful Norwegian sorrowrage) and when the album ends the urge to spin it immediately again is engendered.
Hate Forest and Drudkh are the only bands who have put out comparably good black metal releases thus far this year, and that this is TYPHUS debut only makes this album that much more impressive. PROFOUND BLASPHEMOUS PROCLAMATION is possibly the most accomplished debut full length since Emperors In The Nightside Eclipse and is a serious contender for album of 2005.

This is one of the fucking highlights of this year. Depraved black metal in the vein of old Gorgoroth, mixed with some of the unholier moments of Satanic Warmaster, makes this album stand out. Memorable songs throughout. Pure absolute blasphemy!

I simply cannot find any word about the TYPHUS cd, a masterpiece and I am more honoured that you use my TYPHUS logo than even Emperor using my logo. I am not kidding! You guys went even beyond where Darkthrone ran out of inspiration. I truly think you are an ELITE band, you have been nominated as band of the month. ACE release.

Typhus: Probably the most unholy cd I have in my collection. The song names are very interesting as well as the lyrics being quite disgusting, but I like them anyways.
Lord Typhus has a very interesting, understandable, and a very tolerable voice. He handles the bass duties as well, contributing some well-played bass lines.
Nacht handles the lead guitars. In between him and Lord Typhus, they come up with some very interesting and original sounding guitar riffs. Listen to Coprophagic Communion Upon The Holy Altar for one of the best black metal songs ever written, the guitar parts remind of a whole guitar solo played throughout the whole song.
Moons drumming and china crash abuse adds the right amount of intense backbone to this unholy masterpiece.
Your Savior Caught Drinking The Piss of the Apostles is another one of my favorite songs off of this album. It starts with a nice little acoustic intro and then intensifies to unleash some of the most blasphemous lyrics I have ever read. I dont think this band is satanic just for showThey play like they mean it and really stand behind it. Anal Rape Of The Virgin Mary has some very strange vokills at the beginning and a little bit throughout the song, but I think it works with the music.
Some of the songs are along the 6-minute mark, but Typhus shows the ability to keep the songs fresh and interesting, they dont play the same boring crap 20 times throughout the songs. I agree with the bands statement in saying that they have actually come up with an original approach to making unholy black metal that will put them up at the top with a few of the masters.
If you like real satanic underground as fuck black metal, no homo keyboards or female vocals thrown in for atmosphere, then this release is highly recommendedthis is coming from someone that despises this genre of metal.
