I am a Chicago multi-family home. I have provided shelter for many of Chicago's working class since the late 1800's. My facade is decorated with ornate architectural details. My interiors include natural woodwork and built-in woodwork hutches, hardwood floors, and cast-iron space heaters. I range anywhere from 2-6 units. Sometimes I have a coach house in the rear, providing for additional living space. i can be found on various parts of the Westside, Near Northside, and the Near Southside. I outlast neighborhoods. I have given shelter to all ethnic communities (Poles, Italians, Jews, Bohemians, Ukranians, Irish, Hispanics). If my walls could talk, I would tell you that I've seen it all - from good tenants, to being abandoned and serving as a crackhouse. I love sitting next to adjacent lots, or next to my bretheren. Those of you lucky enough to own me have the benefit of having tenants pay for part or all of your mortgage through rental income. I come mainly in 2 colors: Greystone, Brownstone.
