i am starting this profile because i am very concerned about the misinterpretations that young girls (and boys) have about being a model, and what "true beauty" is. it makes me sad to think that girls are learning first hand about bulemia and anorexia before they even learn about nutrition. girls are starving themselves, over exercising, purging, all for what? to live up to what is "beautiful" today.
my whole life i've heard "what would you know? youve always been skinny, youve always been pretty. you have no idea what it's like to be on the outside". well, i have always been skinny, i havent always been pretty, and i havent always had friends. and i'm worried about those who have a skewed image of themselves and what is pretty, or healthy.
my project idea is to make a video not unlike the Dove: Evolution video, that really shows everything that goes into "beauty" as you see it in magazines or on the streets. some people have beauty that doesnt wipe off with makeup, but most of us have to work hard to be pretty, and what we dont realize is that it is WHO WE ARE and not WHAT WE LOOK LIKE that makes us good people.
