WANDE

Included amongst the new generation of innovating artist is Wande Davies aka Wande'. In terms of hip hop credibility and industry experience; it’s safe to say 1987 was birth to a star. Being the 3rd of 5 children and raised in a small house with other cousins exposed her to the likes of Whoodini, Kris Kross, Jay-Z, Biggie, Run DMC, Whitney Houston, The Jackson’s, Nigerian music and host more of influential Icons, lets not forget Marvin Gaye who she oh so dearly adores. At age thirteen, Wande had her first in studio experience at Ideal’s Studio’s where then, she realized her gift of writing, vocal performance and presence would carry her on to stages across the nation with hip hop artist of all facets. With her older brother as a facilitator/back bone, Wande continued to network and establish relationships. With the ability to write tracks, R&B, HIP-HIP or any genre specified Wande was granted opportunities to join on local recording sessions and write in association with other artists that aspire to prosper in the industry. It was in that same context that Wande continued to build her self as artist/entrepreneur.

The BEGINNING

2005 marked a year of success and anticipation of what was left to come. After meeting mentor Swann Notty through a mutual friend Wande was later introduced to B.E.M.E.’s CEO, C. Cavahlo and was later granted with many opportunities to perform alongside artist such as Cappadona of Wu Tang at Massachusetts Third Eye Open Festival where a series of shows were later booked. From stage to stage, being invited as “opening act” became a common and was later something Wande learned to cherish. It was also late that summer when Wande met up in SOHO NY at Cinematic Studios with Sean Kingston’s former tour DJ, B ROC. Four tracks were recorded and Wande vowed to return to make more music with “B Rizzle”. In addition, she has also spent time working on productions by Rekademix, Snax Beats, St. Pat, Raviniz, & More. Growing up in Providence, a male dominated music scene has molded her into what seems to be a Diamond in the Rough. Wande has gained and earned respect through rocking shows alongside RI’s finest and being dubbed “Prov’s Shorty” for upholding her position within the music scene.

...A FUTURE INDEED

Along with her eagerness, business-like mentality, and close ties to her family/home town, Wande continues to concoct music for the people with no discrimination to age, race, ethnicity, or genre of preference. “My only intention is to be ME—the lady my mother intended for me to be. Acquire a stable position in life where I’m all set and can wake up happy. Let the world know that behind music, there’s US—normal people with intentions of doing good and sharing their feelings with the world--- I’m waiting for Kanye to take me on tour... (laughs)… he’s a “genius” As Wande explicitly makes known that she isn’t “rapper”, she just orchestrates music; one must take into consideration that there are no limits from her perspective as to what, how, and why an artist should make music.
