Welcome to the music of Hi-Jynx. From an early age it was evident that this young man had a fond interest in composing rhyme as well as the formation of lyrics. At the age of 11 he would begin to admire the gestures and personalities of emcees he would see either on television or in magazines. Heavily influenced by early to mid 1990's rap music, he would begin his exploration into the world of hip-hop himself by composing his first original songs at the age of 13. Born in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York known for birthing some of the greatest Emcees in the game today, he was raised in the epicenter of this music genre. Known for his comical and colorful delivery of flow coupled with his strict attention to lyricism, Hi-Jynx is a breath of fresh air for listeners with an appetite for substantial hip-hop.
When asked about the direction he is taking Hip-Hop into he responds with a smirk and says "My mind composes my work at a rate you haven't seen." Along with like minded artists, Hi-Jynx formed Abstract Minds. It's safe to say that his love for conceptual music and fresh ideas makes him an act worth looking forward to in todays Hip-Hop climate. His undeniable love for hip-hop gives him an edge that glows through his work. "This (music) is in my blood." He proclaims followed by stating that his father was a highly requested DJ on the Island of Jamaica.
Working around the clock with enough material to make the average independant artist's head spin, he speaks diligently about his debut LP "Higher Elevation". " I know that when things go wrong people want to start pointing fingers instead of introspection and gaining knowledge from mistakes, but what I do so well is shaving the margin of error and miscalculation as far down as possible with an incredible rate of consistency." Speaking as if he has worked with the best of the suits on Wall Street New York, Jynx maintains his ground on his abilty to plan ahead and be efficient. "My brand of music is something that you're naturally drawn into experience in your environment, im close to my audience and it shows through my content."
As hip-hop grew so did Jynx and throughout the years he's perfected his craft and talent to various plateaus. This artist has shown the tip of his versatility by creating songs with a variety of multitudes whether it be funky fresh commercial ready or lyrically polished with a gritty Underground feel. How he feels about global reach can be seen through his interpretation of the endless sky, he says, " It has no beginning and no end. I intend to be able to be looked at musically as the sky, ever changing but remaining consistent and easily accessible. People everywhere can rock out to what I'm doing or saying on a track. That shit is dope." With that said, his sky composes of himself and other Abstract Minds personnel and family. "At the end of the day, when the smoke clears and the dust settles, you're going to love what I do with hip-hop. Progressing this art is what I do, that's the path I ride on and that's what people love me for, and you will too. Definately!" "We're a movement, one that provokes thought and freshness no re-hashing old concepts."
This level of determination and vision is what puts him in total control of his career. "My perspective is that only you can stop yourself. There's only one of me and we're on the same page 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I can't be stopped. I'm supposed to be on top." Sought after by record labels who have seen what he has accomplished and is capable of accomplishing, stating that he is positioning himself to be in a league of his own in hip-hop. "I am most certainly preparing myself to be in the company of the musical legends, I work hard and I'm an animal, gosh!" Always the one to part with something to make you smile and feel welcome to return, he wont stop until every person he touches worldwide is saying " HI! "
