About Me

I grew up in Iowa City, IA and lived there until I was 25. Then a few years ago I decided it was time to get out to see what some of the rest of the country had to offer and I moved to San Diego. Actually, the photo you're checking out in the background was taken just up the beach from a house I lived in out there. San Diego is great place, but after spending a couple of years out there I decided that I'd been away from home for long enough. So, last summer I made up my mind to get back to my Midwest roots. I didn't really feel like I was ready to settle back into small-town life just quite yet, so instead of moving back to Iowa City I moved to Chicago. I'm a huge Cubs fan and it was awesome being in Chicago for my first full Cubs season as a local. But, as great as Chicago is, I know that one day in the not-too-distant-future I'll find my way back to Iowa and make it my home once again. I'm not sure that I could sum myself up in just a few sentences (who could?), but I'm definitely a very spontaneous and outgoing person. If you don't see me out and about on the weekends, it's probably because I decided on a whim to take a trip and headed out to wherever. I'm always out and about doing something! Life's too short to spend it laying around the house, and I love getting out and being part of the world. That being said, I'm a big fan of just about any outdoor activity. Hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, jogging, gardening, landscaping, outdoor sports... The list could go on and on. And I'm a very social person. I'm the type of guy who will say "Hi" to people he doesn't even know. It's amazing how many great people you will meet simply by saying hello. We all have something in common with every other person out there, we just have to care enough to take the time to find out what that is. When it's time to head out on the town, I like to go someplace where I can hang out with my friends, have a conversation and crack jokes over a few cold brews. Take me to the local dive bar and I'm a happy guy.Oh, this is very important: I drink "pop", not "soda". (Yep, midwest through and through!)As always, I'm excited about the future and what it holds. There are so many amazing things about life and I want to take in every moment. After all, it's all of those little moments that add up to make a life. Well, I suppose that's about all there is for now.If you're cruising around MySpace and you come across my profile, feel free to say, "Hi". It would be great to hear from you!You have 93% Iowa in you!

Wow! You're almost all Iowa. No wonder you're such a likeable person. Isn't it great being so close to the greatest state in the country!

Music:

I listen to a lot of different types of music: old stuff, rock, jazz, country, alternative, blues, jam bands... It just kind of depends on my mood at the time.

Movies:

I like going to movies in the theater and I'm a fan of pretty much any genre, except horror. If I see even just a commercial for a scary movie I'm probably going to change the channel. Some favorite movies are 300, The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather series, Love Actually, V For Vendetta, Amistad, The Thomas Crown Affair, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Braveheart, Tin Cup, Boondock Saints, Gladiator, Goonies, Revenge of the Nerds, You've Got Mail, Animal House, Forrest Gump, Blood Diamond, Top Gun, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Jeremiah Johnson, Wyatt Earp, Spaceballs, Caddyshack, The Sandlot, O' Brother Where Art Thou, Anchor Man, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dances With Wolves, Wedding Crashers, Van Wilder, Old School, Top Gun, The Big Lebowski, A Christmas Story, National Treasure, The Da Vinci Code, Ocean's 11, Chasing Amy, Dogma, the Bourne series, and the Indiana Jones series.

Television:

Anything but "reality" TV or those damn gossip shows. That stuff drives me nuts! Actually, I don't really watch much TV, but 24 and Heroes are favorites. And Sunday night you can be sure I'll be checking out The Sopranos and Entourage. I will watch pretty much anything on the History, Discovery, or National Geographic channels. And, of course, Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight, and NFL Primetime.

Books:

My favorite novel is probably The Da Vinci Code, but there are quite a few of them that are up there. I go through a new book every week or two.
