JESSICA CANDICE MILEY-DYERessi Miley-Dyer grew up on Bronte Beach in Sydney, Australia, and developed her no-nonsense pure power style amongst New South Wales' bevy of various beaches and reefs . At 14, she was chosen to be one of the youngest torchbearers ever selected for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch Relay courtesy of her NSW Junior Surf Lifesaver of the Year title. She fearlessly took the honor, chumming it up with celebrities and athletes alike. Her first achievements athletically weren't necessarily high profile, but they certainly marked her arrival on the competitive circuit. From surf lifesaving, snowboarding, and surfing she made a name for herself in whatever she picked up. In 1999, Jessi won an Australian title in snowboarding. In spite of her obvious natural athleticism in various sports, she chose surfing as her primary discipline to follow. In addition to her phenomenal feats in the athletic arena, Miley-Dyer also proved she could flex her mental power as well, receiving a scholarship to attend university to study law.Jessi opted out on university in favor of attending the "school of life" and the young Australian made her way onto the surf scene as a professional in 2006. In her inaugural year, she finished 4th in the ASP Women's World Tour, won the 2006 Billabong Pro Maui and Billabong ASP World Junior Women's Championship, and was named the "Rookie if the Year" by the ASP. This has made her a force to be reckoned with and she hasn't slowed down. Currently serving as a member on the ASP Board, Miley-Dyer's involvement in the ASP Women's World Tour is second to none, and with a solid run in the last few events in 2007, look for the progressive goofy-footer to make a legitimate run at the title this season.a.k.a: Milly-Dilly, J.
