Potsdamer Platz were brought to life on December 2005 thanks to four guys from Benevento (Mauro Di Dio on guitars, Stefano Di Dio on drums, Fiorangelo Buonanno at keyboards and Eduardo De Cunto on bass) who met in a sunny winter day Nunzia Carrozza. Let’s have a look to their story.
Many years ago (1998, they were only 15!), Angelo and Mauro founded their first band, ‘Utopia’. This band became soon a ‘cult’, but mainly for the people living above the garage in which they played.
The first significant band was called “Punto Vernale Gammaâ€. In fact, this band was chosen among a lot of bands in order to take part to the meeting “Big Torino†(a national meeting organized in Torino on April 2000). But the most important thing was that an original sound began to be heard. The band, in fact, featured for the first time original compositions.But the day of farewell came soon also for PVG .
Mauro played in a lot of bands, playing soul with “Meglio soul che male accompagnatiâ€, rock with “Mantra†and with “Lassam due tiriâ€, jazz with University Jazz Orchestra.
In the end, he founded “The A’s Clubâ€, a pop-rock band featuring Stefano at the drums. The bands collected a great number of gigs, thanks to a good appreciations by the audience.
On the other side, Angelo created with Eduardo a band called “Assurdiversiâ€, later featuring Stefano at the drums.
In the 2005 the FabFours tried a demential vanguard path with the band “I Reni Grandiâ€, but unsuccessfully. They began to think about a serious and definitive project, with original compositions and no limit to their creations. But they missed a singer who was able to play this role. Some months later she came. She was Nunzia Carrozza, the Cristina D’Avena of beltway Telese – Caianello, the muse who was born as a Venere on a nutshell of lake of Telese, while angels blowing on her head. Nunzia has everything they need in order to persuade the guys to take her as a singer. She’s got a Diploma in Piano, sing with mastery and she’s able to keep the audience with confidence. Moreover, she features various experiences as singer (she took part to gigs with Dik Dik, Nicola Di Bari and Gipsy Kings, for example..) and, above all, she gave new energies to the band.
Potsdamer Platz were now a real thing.
Their first appearance was the “Over The Rockâ€, and they won it. And this is only the first one.
In the next months, Pots took part to Pigro Show (Urbino, June 2006), Giffoni Music Concept (Giffoni, July 2006), Diacetum Festival (Firenze, August 2006).
On March 2007, Pots won Pigro Show (Teramo, 2007). But, in the summertime, Pots experience finished.
