Lick screen for surprise.

About Me

I'm a filmmaker. Or at least, trying to be. The reason I've started this myspace is to vent some of the frustrations I've been feeling lately. Either to just track my progress from this point on, or to look at at a later date and just laugh at myself.
And yes, I still believe nine out of ten people on MySpace are whiny emo bitches. The verdict is still out on wether or not I am.

My Interests

Film, of course. But other forms of fiction as well, books, comics and video games (yes, video games).

I'd like to meet:

Bryan Singer, Christopher Nolan and Darren Aronofsky are at the top of my list. Of course, a lot of filmmakers are part of the list as well. In no particular order, Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuaron, Joss Whedon, Sam Mendes, David Fincher, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, Zach Braff, Gary Cole, William Fichtner, Edward Norton and Kevin Spacey. And then writers, Lionel Shriver, Chuck Palahniuk, Stephen Fry, Brian K. Vaughan and Mark Millar. Oh, and Jimmy Carr and Bill Bailey. Whenever I see them together on QI, I get scared. If a meteor were to strike at the bbc studio, my comic heroes would both be gone. Kinda like the president and the vice-president, except I care about this.

Oh, and David Lynch, because, come on, everyone wants to meet him. Can anyone really be thát weird?

Music:

Very eclectic. Mostly just singular songs, very few musicians I just like everything by. But I'll name Rob Dougan, just because more people need to hear about him.

Movies:

American Beauty, Fight Club, The Usual Suspects, The Lord of the Rings, Se7en, Apocalypse Now, Pi, Unbreakable, Batman Begins, Rashomon, and that's just ten.

Television:

Lost, Heroes, House, 24, Alias, Arrested Development, Firefly and Spaced.

Books:

Survivor, Choke, Haunted, We Need To Talk About Kevin (if anyone knows who holds the movie rights to that, I'd love to find out), Everything is Illuminated, Life of Pi, The Ultimates, Watchmen and Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men.

Heroes:

Great tv show.

Music Videos...

So I've been asked to make a videoclip. Now it's kinda weird, since a) the band is more than a neighbourhood garage band (Branko has had a cd released and I've been told have had a clip air on nationa...

Finishing Rough Cut

So I just finished my rough cut. It is very flawed, I will be the first to admit it. The pacing is too fast, no breathing room ever (it's because I didn't shoot any breathing room), the constant hum t...

The Snowflakes on Top of the Hill

So I talked with my actors yesterday and I'm pretty psyched, as I think at least most of them are. We scheduled and just chatted a bit. I like the people. Which is good. All I have to do now is to twe...

The Classic Cinematic Genii

As a lot of people know, I'm a real child of the nineties. My two favorite movies are both from 1999, and my three favourite directors all made their debutes in this decade. Now, in part this is becau...

Lady in the Water and self-indulgent filmmakers.

I recently saw Lady in the Water, M. Night Shymalan's latest flick. I didn't like it. And the reason I didn't like it was because of something that bothers me in quite a few films. I really like Sixth...

On Guarantees and Expectations.

So I got an e-mail today by my landlady, saying I signed a ten month contract, and she's expecting it to get finished, and I need to find another student to fill it, or pay it out myself. Now, I get th...

Back in Groningen (continuing my escape)...

Note: I am very frustrated. There will be some bad language in here to reflect that. If you are offended by that, please don't be a cunt about it. (And now let's hope Jimmy Carr won't sue me for that....
