About Me

I love to sing. I always have; I'm still not sure if I'm any good at it. I think of myself as a writer first, an entertainer second, and a musician third. My style of music varies from day to day--this may be because of a desire to try it all, it may be due to a low threshhold of boredom, or it may be good old-fashioned ADD.I'm from Texas, and obnoxiously proud of it. I've seen all but a scattered handful of counties in the state, and have a pretty good working knowledge of the terrain, flora and fauna, and people of my homeland. However, I also love to travel, especially to the southwest and northwest. I've spent a fair amount of time in western Canada, both in the mountains and on the coast. Occasionally that shows up in my musical style when I'm feeling folky.Speaking of folk, I've been to nearly a dozen Kerrville Folk festivals, and even got the chance to play the main stage at the 2000 Wine & Music festival there as a member of Part of the Problem, a cowboy trio (see, I told you I've tried it all) I was fortunate enough to perform with them for a while. I haven't been in a couple of years (stupid lousy day jobs) but, rest assured, it's only a temporary absence. Ditto the Big Bend region of Texas. I'll be back out there in April. If you're ever in Central Texas, shoot me an email. I'll buy you a beer. tms"I used to sing to try to change the world/Now I sing to keep the world from changing me" --Dirk Hamilton
