Death In Venice

"Taking not their name from the novel by Thomas Mann but from the words scrawled on the guitar case Johnny Rodgers received from his father as a child, Death in Venice formed in 2005 when Johnny, a native of Yellowknife, moved to Whitehorse and met Jona Barr in high school. the two shared a common bond in music and started to jam. Liking what he heard, Jona invited his friend Fletcher Degraff to join in on drums, and in no time at all the trio felt confident enough to enter the Whitehorse battle of the bands. Their confidence must have been well founded, because they won, securing a spot at the Frostbite Music Festival and four hours of recording time, which they used to record a demo that later on got them a gig at Yellowknifes Folk On The Rocks.
