Tony Reed, The Cowboy Singer

About Me

Country and Western recording artist and songwriter Tony Reed is Washington..s own home grown performer and rancher. Tony, who at an early age sang with his mother at church functions, is influenced by the unique sounds of Marty Robbins and Jim Reeves as well as Alan Jackson. His portfolio proves that he is on the right track to musical success. In his years as a professional musician, Tony has fronted several Northwest bands including, The Willies, Northwest Stampede, and the Outriders. In 1999 he partnered with singer and songwriter Bruce Coe to form the Outriders, recording their debut CD, Wonderin.. Which Way to Go in 2003. The release of this critically acclaimed CD won them both national and international recognition with hits like the title track and ..Livin.. the Cowboy Life...Although he is relatively a newcomer to the world of western music, Tony..s portfolio is already filled with notable venues which include performances at the Gorge Amphitheatre, Northwest Folklife, Yakima Folklife, Academy of Western Artists (The Gathering) in Dallas and Richardson TX, Saturday Night Longhorn Rodeos, Tucson Western Music Roundup, Springwood Ranch, the Western Music Association Barn Dance, along with the Chris Ledoux Toast & Jam in Albuquerque NM, then also with Mended Heart and the Outriders at the first ever Spirit of the West Cowboy Gathering in Ellensburg WA. In 2005 Reed received recognition with the prestigious Laughing Horse Arts Foundation..s Promising Arts Leader Award for his contributions to the arts. These days Tony has plenty to celebrate with the debut of his solo album Rustlers.. Wind. Joe Baker of MTD Radio, Ruidoso, New Mexico, has touted the CD as ..destined to be western music..s album of the year .....This exceptionally talented entertainer is in good company on his first solo venture, with nationally known musicians and singers including Kip Calahan, Bruce Coe, Kevin Fairfield, Rich Riggs, Mike Bruce, John Young and cowboy poet Rusty Feathers who all add to the musical festivities of this powerful western CD.Tony waxes eloquence in his thoughtful acknowledgments on this CD. However, take the time to examine carefully the small print, and the reader will find that Tony..s humor and sensibility are not far behind his musical talent. This fine entertainer is a man who has ..learned that my horse is a much better listener than a bartender...

My Interests

Band Members: Although most of the time I do shows by myself, you will find that I play often with my songwriting partner and wonderful guitarist, Bruce Coe. Dubbed by the great Chet Atkins with, "That boy up there in Washinton... He shooow can pick!". Others you will find would be be the great Mike Bruce on the trap set as well as Kevin Fairfield on dobro, acoustic and electric lead, Randy Hiner on the bass and. Dave "Flyin' fingers" Burton on the steel guitar. Rich Riggs of Catch & Release fame rounds it out on fiddle. For other larger shows across the country Mike Siler, Texas Classic Country and Western Swing dude has graciously offered he and his band as back up. Great sound and great guys I look forward to playing with them as well as each and every one of the regulars. When here in the Northwest I utilize the band that I normally front, the Nothwests own "Outriders" adding tight three part harmony, a hard show to beat.
Influences: Even though I am a cowboy, you will find many influences in my music, from Marty Robbins to Kieth Whitley, Merle Haggard and John Schnieder, Don Williams and yes even Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson. Even Sister Hazel and Pink Floyd. The underlying result is Traditional or Classic Country & Western with an edge. I like it and I hope you do too.
