Michelle talks about new album. No more Ms. Nice Girl Former Destiny's Child singer and gospel artist Michelle Williams knows some fans will always see her as "the church girl." But she wants them to know that she has another side..a seedier side that she plans to express in her first solo R&B album this spring. "I've been dogged, I've been dumped, I've done the dumping, I've done the cheating," Williams told RedEye. The album doesn't have a title or a first single yet, but in addition to showing off her inner bad girl, the Rockford native wants to recapture the raw R&B "that's missing right now." "Those topics of love and relationships, triumphs and failures," she says. "All of this 1-2 microwave pop, that's cool for right now, but that's not going to sustain you in life."Get Your MySpace Codes at MySlyWeb.comCLICK THIS BANNER...AND BECOME AN OFFICIAL MEMBER!!! ;) ..here's the code for my banner:Michelle speaks on music After releasing two gospel/inspirational projects, former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams is in California working on a new R&B album. Williams, who has Pentecostal roots, said that when she started singing gospel, some gospel singers questioned her sincerity. She declined to name names."They just didn't know me," she said. "I was led to do these two CDs. Each meant something to me."She said faith is part of her life. Her grandmother is an evangelist, her brother is a minister, and an uncle is a bishop in the Church of God in Christ. When Williams was on the road with Destiny's Child, Tina Knowles, mother of lead singer Beyonce, called the young women on Sunday mornings and have Bible study over the phone. They listened to gospel music before performances."Gospel music heals your soul," said Williams, who added that she may eventually focus her career in gospel. She believes many R&B singers have a natural connection to gospel music."They haven't forgotten where they came from and that gospel music is still a part of them," Williams said. "With some people like Patti LaBelle and Aretha, you hear it in their voice. You know they were raised in the church."MICHELLE IS AN EXTREMELY TALENTED, STRONG, STUNNING, CARING, GIVING, HUMBLE LADY! THE WORLD ISNT READY FOR WHAT SHE WILL DO IN THE YEARS TO COME!!! :)Michelle Williams began singing in her church choir, performing her first solo on "Blessed Assurance" at the age of seven at the St. Paul Church of God in Christ in her hometown of Rockford, IL. As she grew up, she sang with the gospel groups United Harmony and Chosen Expression, but doubted she would be able to make a career as a singer and attended two years of college. In May 1999, however, she passed an audition to become a backup singer for Monica and toured with her through October. Then in January 2000, she was invited to join Destiny's Child. Becoming a member of the rapidly emerging superstar group, she was first heard on their number one single "Independent Women Part I" and went on to participate in their massively successful 2001 album Survivor, the holiday release 8 Days of Christmas, and the remix album This Is the Remix. In April 2002, she became the first member of Destiny's Child to issue a solo album, the gospel collection Heart to Yours. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide. Followed by her 2nd Inspirational album "Do You Know"! Michelle has hopes of inspiring and encouraging with the gospel, which she'll be the first to point out as simply meaning "good news." For her, more than the material success, it's about communicating a relevant message to today's generation. "I just really want to reach out to the young people and let them know who God is," she relays, "and how God can be there for you--and you can still be cool. You can be cool and Christian. You can be cool and saved. You can be cool and still express your love for Christ to the world and it's okay."
