Tom Gibbs is a jazz pianist and composer currently based in Glasgow. He is involved in several projects including the group Alonza which plays his own music. Recent gigs have included a solo gig supporting Lee Konitz at Glasgow Jazz Festival; with Mark McKnight and Will Vinson; a yet to be released recording with Ari Hoenig Gilad Hekselman and Euan Burton; with Paul Towndrow at London and Brecon Jazz festivals.
Tom studied for a BA and MA at the University of York. His MA was supervised by one of his heroes,
pianist John Taylor. Tom graduated in
2006 with distinction. Whilst at York, he also recieved ongoing tuition from Julian Arguelles (who
played on his final recital) and also Nikki Iles, Mike Walker, Mark Bassey
and Chris Batchelor.
In the summer of 2006, Tom attended the School for Improvisational Music intensive summer course in New York.
After graduating, Tom moved back to Scotland to develop his music with the band he lives
