First off I want to thank GOD and enjoy my music, second let me tell you about myself and my influences "EFFECT B.X." was born and raised in Northeast Bronx, N.Y. Gun Hill, Burke, and Allerton ave area, eversince a little boy I had great interest in Hip-Hop music and Hip- Hop culture, break dancing, graffiti etc.etc.My brother was a graffiti artist back in the early 80's he used to write "Rise" on the 2 line and at the time as a young boy I use to go with my other brother Ron to the projects and watch people break dance to rap music with the old school La sonic boom box.Alot of my influences was caused by growing up around artist and D.J.'s like chuck chill out & Jazzy Joyce in the late 80's she brought around big artist like Big Daddy kane & M.C. Lyte, King Sun also use to live in my area who use to chill with Fat Joe who use to bomb around my way before he made it big in the game as a rapper.I started rapping between the age of 10-13 off and on but got into writing at 13, I can say I wrote my first ryme in 1992 when I got sent away for something I did as a juvenile. I been spitting for about 15+ years and done a few shows with my boy Big Fish at schools in the bronx and manhattan D.C.37 building and a few clubs downtown in the village that closed down.At the end of 1993 I got out of juvee and was released into a after school reporting program called B.R.C. (Bronx reporting center) in the bronx up on Wilder ave in the a release release program fpr juvenile who get out the pin after serving 85% of there time and finish the rest of there time in the program. In the program I met this kat name SUBS who was released into the same program and lived in the same hood as me so we clicked and later found out from each other that we both spit so later on in 1994 we formed a group with this other kat named Agony that I met in the P.J.'s that my homey Sid introduced us too.Later on we made a name up and called the group "SADAEFX" short for SIDE EFFECTS, so Agony had an uncle who had studio equipment and that was my first experience with studio equipment. Growing up around my way I had a few upcoming artist I hung out with here and there and still friends with like Armageddon from Terror squad who I known for many years before he made it big in the game, Armageddon, myself and alot of other katz rymed we use to cypher in front of the pizza shop on allerton ave alot of times I didn't cypher cause I felt I was a beginer in the game and I needed more practice and build my lyrical skill and confidents.Around 1995 Fat joe and Big pun use to come around my hood to holla at Armageddon and cypher in front of the same pizza shop and that had alot of influence and impact on me. Me and my group (Sadaefx) went our seperate ways in 1996 and then I started recording music at my boys David Fisher AKA Fish aka Big fish studio who was an old school rap artist from the group called Maximum 3+1 and he helped me understand the game a lil more and helped me get my first shows which he performed with me on stage.In 1997 of late september I had a meeting at J-Luv Records located in Midtown manhattan which was a label that branched out from uptown MCA records who haved worked with artist like Nine, M.O.P. and 702 but probably would of been signed but was discriminated by an A & R on the spot cause of my race but thats was then I hold no grudges now but that tought me how shady the music industry was. I got hooked up with that meeting with J-Luv Records through a neighbor I knew in the projects who lived across the hall who new J-Luv and his sister, eversince then I been signed to short small term small money bullshit deals under the table.I worked with Big Fish and other local artist around my way and up in Harlem thats also work with Fish until 2003 and then I went solo and been strong in the game eversince and will still keep going with this Hip-Hop music till I die wheather I get a good deal or never make it in the game.
