Add a myspace jukebox to your profile. -Dj Kali's Bio- Dj Kali was born Ante’ Smith on September 12, 1985 in San Diego, Ca to Colleen Thompson and Anthony Smith. Shortly thereafter they separated and he stayed with his mother to start school. Then at the age of 8, he moved with his father to start at a performing arts school. Around that time is when he started really getting in to music, understanding the process and studying the different signature sounds of producers. His older brother Anthony Smith Jr. became his biggest influence in music by writing songs, creating rap groups and making mix cd’s with a home karaoke machine. That’s when he decided to find his position in the music industry. He didn’t want to just write songs and recite them with his brother he wanted to back him up. That’s when the art of the disk jockey aka DJ came into play. Watching Dj’s like Dj Kid Capri, Jam Master Jay, Dj Jazzy Jeff and Dj Red Alert, he knew what he wanted to do. At the age of 17 he was finally able to buy his own set of turntables and a mixer. With no prior help or training, he bought 2 records, plugged his set up into a boom box and stayed in the room all day. To him, the Dj name was most important because that was what he would be called and remembered by. After numerous of choices, the name Kali was chosen to represent the place that he was born.
