SPIRIT SOULFIRE

Spirit known for her soothing exfoliating sounds aspires to become a dominant vocal force in the recording industry. Spirit was born in Elizabeth,New Jersey and brought up in a military family. For "SPIRIT" singing and songwriting and poetry is a natural which she developed at an early age.Her voice was discovered at age 5 when her father bought her a kiddie record player and organ then one day handed her a Minnie Ripperton single (45 record) from his collection with the songs "Lovin' you" and "Memory Lane". He played Lovin' You and once she heard the birds chirping in the beginning of Lovin' You then the soft sounds of minnie's voice and her flow she played it over and over again on her kiddie record player.She remembers telling her dad she wants to be like the lady on the song with the birdies singing(Lovin' You). Growing up listening to the sounds from her dad's collection(Minnie Ripperton,The Emotions,Teddy Pendergrass,and yes...Millie Jackson )You know how Millie can get(smile) she developed an abiding desire to be a singer.She did various charity conventions,and talent shows through out grade school.She had a chance to perform at her Highschool w/visiting artist Roxanne Shante,Force MC's.Soon she was singing R&B and Jazz and House music for underground parties she wrote short stories and poems about her and others experiences in life,eventually writing her own vocal material.In 1990 she made her first appearance at the famous "APOLLO" in Harlem gaining confidence that she could make it through a tough crowd.When she moved to NY in 1993, she began to sing at parties and weddings, and local cafes in the VILLAGE including CAFE' WHA! Audiences loved her style and energy and the original creativity of her songs.While in NY SPIRIT supported herself through a wide variety of jobs in security, hospitals, and customer service.She moved back to NJ in 2001 and performed at the Five Spot in Philly in the "Black Lilly" and also at the Hibachi in Philly in the "Groove Lounge".Spirit has been doing a lot of studio work lately her goal is to touch people with her music.It has been a long journey, but a road well traveled.Spirit is sure to bring the public her own "independent" vibe thanks to "Allmighty GOD".......
