BOARDROOM NEWCASTLE

SKATE PARK

About Me

Boardroom Newcastle is a collective of people working to create an indoor Skate Park, and eventually an Urban Arts Centre in the West End of Newcastle. The project began in 2003 by another group who were given an unused unit within the Mill Lane Youth Centre site. Renovation work and building began, and the site now holds a Skate Park nearing completion, with impressive, easy to ride ramps to suit a range of needs and abilities. Boardroom was conceived as a community and youth-led project, which will be a not for profit business, generating income to sustain the park, and to inject into other Urban Arts projects, such as a Performing Arts unit. We are currently waiting for the council to agree the terms for a lease, so that we can start to set the wheels in motion for doing the final renovations and opening the Skate Park. ....

My Interests

Urban Arts of all forms, from extreme sports, to music, dance and performance skills, acrobatics, theatre and visual arts.....creativity and innovation to benefit the people!

I'd like to meet:

We would like to hear from skaters BMXers and bladers who would be interested in using the Park when it opens, who can help us to make it a success by showing their support. We would like to hear from anyone interested in the project from the youth, community and regeneration perspectives, giving us their views, ideas and suggestions, and hopefully, getting involved, if they feel they have something to contribute. We need to hear from people in the local community about their thoughts, and what they think of a Skate Park opening in their area. Any people who have already successfully worked on similar projects would be very welcome to share their experiences and give us any advice they feel they can offer.

Music:

No Boundaries here..everything which rocks and makes our hearts jump around and our hips flow..take it to the street, though!
