Bruno SM

Bruno San Martin was born in Buenos Aires and, acording his own words, his first memory related to music is from the time when he was only five years old, listening (influenced by his father) to The Police and their album Sinchronicity. It´s particularly this album and the sounds produced by the effects that distorts and give an electronic touch to Andy Summers´ guitar what captivates and intrigues him. But from that same time, his passion for electronic music appears in his life in a strange way: One day, when he hears a soundtrack (Equinoxe) in a Bible for children´s advertisement showed on tv, he gets familiar with Jean Michel Jarre´s music and inmediatelly his childlike mind associates electronic music with God. He imagines then this musical gender like something sublime, perfect and infinite. These “strange”, mechanical, robotic, electronic sounds generates in himself a sensation of nature, of immensity, of outer space (influenced in great ammount also for Vangelis ´ work for Cosmos), and attract his attention mightly.

At the age of eight, his musical liking was really extensive. Rock and roll in all its varieties and genders, clasical music, pop music, etnic music and more. Nothing escapes to his attention. When he was eleven years old he asks for permission (and he gets it) to play music in his classes break, at primary school. That is how only “armed” with a cassette recorder, he “broadcasts”, live, with his father´s cassettes and his own ones , mixing clasical tracks with the “hits of the moment” includes (specially) Depeche Mode, KLF, Technotronic, etc. There was only one step away from this to playing music in birthdays´ and friends´parties, and that´s the beginning of a passion that trasscends moments and ages in Bruno San Martin´s life.

Given his preference for house music and influenced specially by artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha and John Digweed, he literaly falls in love with progressive house and adopts this style as his own for his sets. Basicaly his style is progressive house; however his sets are known by a mix of genders in where you can find minimal, electro, tech and even more, giving to his sets a sound variety that amazes both dancefloor and audiences.

After a break of almost four years, caused by diferent projects and personal obligations he ceased with his presentations and performs sporadicly; right now he is making his come-back to the scene, with many things in process ( like a radio show in FM Class his own productions and presentations, mixes for important dj´s and producing his first independent record) among which there are several things for ABC-ssions, the agency and producer founded by himself and Dj Ale del Valle.

Bruno San Martin has participated in several events and played with dj´s like: Carlos Ruiz, Gary Alan, DeIC, Moebius, Ezze Ramone, Franky 4 Fingers, Chakal, Dj Om, Fethe, Guido Hernandez, Mirko, Andy Reist, Fran Russo, Rodrigo Medina, Gaston G, Mauricio Mora, Nico Cano, Diego Battini, Xavier RV and many others; and performs in his country and also abroad, in places like Brasil, Uruguay, Chile and Australia, places where he gathered his two passions: djying and surfing.
