10 Years In The Making... And Breaking!

I was at my sister's wedding in 1988 when I read a computer magazine article about the Atari ST. Two years later, I was to purchase one. Although electronic music had been strictly bleeps and fuzzy noises on a Spectrum up until that point, it was always going to be something I wanted to pursue on the ST. I didn't venture down the MIDI path, instead, I saved up my money and bought Quartet, a 4 track music application that used samples (limited to 32KB each!) and started messing around. It wasn't until 1992 that I really threw any effort into it, having used the ST for little more than looping drumbeats into an Amstrad Studio 100 (hi-fi stereo with 4 track option on standard cassettes) and set about creating my first full electronic tracks. Some of the ideas went down really well and I expanded my sample banks as best I could with the limitations of Quartet... But in 1996 I acquired my first PC and soon after, a copy of FastTracker 2.
I was now in the world of tracker music and it bit me like nothing had done before. Up until that point, I had written under the name of MCP but in 1997, after a session with my brother MadAD (who was an accomplished DJ and later on, a Reason user) I came up with the name ChillinBuzz. In 1999 I stumbled across Jeskola Buzz and plundered my wallet for getting more samples... A lot more, as it would turn out (to date - August 2007 - I have over 50000). For years, much of my music was never heard beyond a close circle of family and friends until I came across DMusic.com in 2002. The same year, many of my songs charted and were streamed thousands of times. It also brought unexpected attention to ChillinBuzz.com (which I owned until recently, when an unscrupulous domain registrar & website running a bot, a.k.a Domibot, stole it and now abuse my artist name).
A self taught guitarist and computer programmer, I have created something in the region of 2000 songs, poems, collaborations and other ideas during my musical history which covers all but the first five years of my life. Music is the only thing I really know, it is the only thing that has lasted the course with me. Whatever happens now and in the future, ChillinBuzz will always be my life, electronic music will always be my release.
