Sofajunkies are a high-energy project with high aspirations. We can probably be best described as a Funky, Dub/Reggae, Soul, Hip-Hop, Jazzy influenced rhythmical band. The music is vibrant with some moody progressions, the large array of styles and backgrounds give the band their distinctive sound.
The band started off as a university project for a music degree in Scarborough, during which time we received good criticism from listeners. We headlined a university performance and were asked to do more gigs, from pubs to larger local venues, for event promoters in Scarborough. We gigged often from the summer of 2006 until recently and in our various incarnations we grooved our way through all of the larger music venues as well as frequenting open mic nights and major Scarborough festivals such as H2O Beached, Uni-On and Soundfest.
