Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Cosmo is one of the brightest up and coming producers in the game at the young age of 24. Remincisent of legends like DJ Premier, RZA, Pete Rock, Large Pro, and Marley Marl, Cosmo is a force to be reckoned with. Born in the Dominican Republic on April 8th, 1983, Cosmo grew up in DR with his two sisters, his father (who was back and forth from NYC), and his mother who have supported him throughout his life's trials and tribulations. After his father made a permanent move to NYC, Cosmo's family decided to move to the city to gain more opportunity as well as a better life.
At the age of five, Cosmo moved to the Bronx, the place that we all know as the Home of Hip Hop. During his stay in the Bronx, he encountered a lot of problems within his family and at the age of eight, his father abandoned the family which would ultimately lead to Cosmo's aggressive behavior growing up in the Bronx. "When my father left, it really affected how I operated as a person because I had no father figure in my life," Cosmo says. While attending the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, he encountered the wrong
crowd of people linking him to street drama causing his education to spiral downwards which was what led to his mother's decision of his family's move to Worcester, MA.
Things started to turn around for Cosmo when he met producer, Cyrus Tha Great. "Ever since 1993, when I heard Wu Tang's 36 Chambers, thats when I knew I wanted to make beats," Cosmo says on production. It wasn't until years after knowing Cyrus that he showed Cosmo the ropes of beat making. In 2004, during a trip to NYC while Cyrus was working on the critically acclaimed "50 MC's 2004" mixtape, Cosmo expressed a strong interest in being a producer which lead to the strong musical bond between the two. "Cyrus has been a big inspiration to me when it comes to beat making, he showed me all the basics on how to structure a beat," Cosmo says on Cyrus.
Under the guidance of managers Kas (Spit Supreme) and acclaimed mixtape DJ J-Ronin (All Elements, Sav Killz) , Cosmo has already had his work placed on projects from DJ Green Lantern, Clinton Sparks, Krumbsnatcha, Killah Priest, Jaz O, Smiff N Wessun, Tragedy Khadafi, Sav Killz, Planet Asia and Special Teamz. In 2007 and beyond, Cosmo plans to expand his sound through his constant grind and passion to make good music. "The fact that Hip Hop is dying pushes me to make music to save this culture," he says on inspiration. With drive and determination, Cosmo is destined to be a problem in the industry.
