Dr. Salman Ahmad is a Pakistani doctor, music artist, actor, and teacher who used to be a member of Vital Signs but left after their debut album due to creative differences...He went on to form a band called Junoon, South Asia's biggest rock band. While still enjoying the success of Junoon, Salman Ahmad has been involved in two documentaries with the BBC "The Rockstar and The Mullahs" and "Its My Country Too" and is also the Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS. Ahmad is working towards spreading awareness about HIV in South Asia.He released his solo album, Infiniti, in mid-2005, The first video for Infiniti is "Al-Vida". It seeks to promote HIV awareness. Salman Ahmad has also appeared on Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect, He has appeared on CNN and NPR to try to promote a better image for Pakistanis and Muslims.In September 2006, Salman Ahmad was personally invited by former US President Bill Clinton to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative panel in New York on Thursday, September 21st, featuring such prominent guests as Bill Gates, President Musharraf, Queen Rania etc. After Junoon's international acclaim and success, Salman reached new heights, which includes being an ambassador for peace with numerous international awards under his belt. Salman also played an important role in generating funds and creating awareness for the massive earthquake that hit Pakistan in October, 2005.Recently, Salman has been touring actively, and has primarily focused on performing and addressing the most prestigious instituitions in the U.S. such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, UT-Austin etc. He has also been invited to be a guest faculty on music at the Queens College of NY where he will is teaching a class on "Islamic Music and Culture of South Asia". Salman is currently performing in well known colleges all around the United States of America, Europe, and India and he is also teaching at Queens College, in Flushing New York.
