VALI Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. A.E.

About Me

Everyone good? I'm Vali and it's nice to meet you. I enjoy art; and I practice my art in the form of building design and construction...like the phoenix... "out of fire and ashes come renewal." I read, namely history, cuz it all comes back-feel me? Not much into sports but Shaq: No.1 baller, Philjax, no.1 shotcaller; Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson-2 more heads for Mt. Rushmore. What's to say about me? I enjoy the beach and going out with my friends,-did I say I enjoy the beach? To have friends you have to be a friend and I try to be that. If you want to talk-I'll listen totally engrossed in everything that you say...excuse me-what did you say? Oh yeh, I'm a good listener.I would like to increase my charitable spirit and give more personal time to humanitarian and environmental causes....ZZZZzzz..sorry,I'm NOCturnal-...I like the nite life.

My Interests

General interests include enjoying life and spending time with my family-though it's never enough time. I like art-I'm no expert, but I know what moves me. Matisse, Frida Kahlo, Picasso,Jean Léon Gérôme.The crazier the artist the better. I enjoy helping the best of my entrepreneurial friends when I can, and where I can. I like latin dancing, malibu rum mixed with anything, books, music, history & politics and reading biographies . I'm a JFK comspiracist, despite all evidence to the contrary. I was a volunteer guide for the Jackie O. wardrobe exhibit in Washington D.C. Can Condoleeza Rice handle that level of responsibility? In her dreams baby! I like Acuras. I'll add more interests later; it's a vicious cycle.

I'd like to meet:

People make the world go-round

I would like to meet or talk to people who are kind, smart or funny or talk to anyone who wants to talk to me. There is always something new to learn or experience..no?

I like people who have that quirky thing that sets them apart, and comfortable with it...birds of a feather I guess. You know, different from the norm, but not too extreme in any one direction. Life is full of challenges-so I love to be with people that keep me positive, so I can be positive for that other person that needs it. Yep-a ray of friggin sunshine. Hey my peoples-let's keep putting one foot in front of the other.

You name it,I know it..except for Jazz..Real jazz enthusiasts roll their eyes at me even when I mention Kenny G jokingly. Uh-oh..time for me to sit at the bar, nothing to see, lol;Miles Davis-I've been listening and learning. Old school Phylis Hyman, Patrice Rushen, Bobby Caldwell, & Anita Baker float in my head sometimes. I like Al Jareau's version of Otis Redding's "Try a little tenderness" That's about the extent of my jazz knowledge, and maybe even that is probably considered mainstream. *Thank you to myspace friends whom are expanding my jazz experiences with the many beautiful sounds of Jazz on your myspace pages. You know who are are.

I like the experience of Hendrix and Joplin; except for the drugs;tragedy;such was the fate of many artists of the era.

DeAngelo's Live at the Jazz Cafe CD recorded from Japan: You have to hear his version of Earth Wind & Fire's classic "Can't Hide Love" . It'll make you cry.

The musicians have a story to tell.Of the newer music I like Jay-Z's creativity, T.I, 3-6 Mob-mainly how they've infiltrated the mainstream.3-6 Mob-friggin Oscar winners!Quite the accomplishment. "I gotta stay Fly-i.i.i...," Hum it if you don't know the words.

Musiq, The Roots,-Anything produced by Timbaland, Pharell and Missy Elliot for being a woman holding it down in the business. Dave Matthews Band, Dido, Incubus, Train, Cypress Hill. Old school rap, LL, Ice Cube and Dre, HeavyD, Mint Condition, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Jodeci, Eric B.& Rakim,-"So I start my mission- leave my residence-Thinkin how could I get some dead presidents"- LOL-I was younger then. Classic Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Classic Police, Zenyatta Mondatta, Voices Inside My Head, Regatta De Blanc, etc. Chris Williams (Dont' wake me..I'm Dreamin')and Al B. Sure's "Noche y Dia/Night & Day".

Dre's 'Chronic' and Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' will get you out of the bed in the morning.

I like the variety of Latin music; the traditional music and newer music, and the blends of both sounds, such as on the CD, "Tributo a Jose Alfredo Jimenez XXX". Raggaeton is off the chain...really. You don't need to know the lanquage to feel Daddy Y, Mana or Juanes; and Ritmo Latino.___________________________________________________

Music continued... Beyonce and Sheryl Crow represents; I love her version of Sweet Child O Mine, and Talk to the One Who Made You. Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill. Such a contrast yet similar to 70's songstress Janis Ian's "I learned the truth at 17", released in 1975. Morrisette's, "You Ought to Know" and Crow's "Favorite Mistake" are the song "Seventeen" all grown up and f*cked up; look it up.
Hosted By SparkleTags.com
I guess Morrisette's "Jagged Little Pill" CD is a staple for every woman, just like conservative black pumps-You hate having to wear them, but you know you'll have to from time to time-just like the jagged little pill-you'll have to swallow it down.

Blues is cool and thought provoking-it's the Blues. I like it from B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Allman Bros, Lyle Lovett, Robert Cray,;Props. John Mayer wants to be down. I think he's from Connecticut, the birthplace of the blues.

-amore y felicidad-

I'm sentimental for the 70's..Al Green-Love and Happieness; Marvin Gaye,Sly Stone,Santana,Cat Stevens Wild World, Walter Becker & Donald Fagan, Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, Donna Summer, Commodores, AWB, Ohio Players, Funkadelic,Slave ("Why don't you slide? I'll be around when you want to get down"-1977)Grand Funk Railroad, Gap Band,Confunkshun, The System-You R in my system. Chaka Kahn. Chaka Kahn. Chaka Kahn.

Stevie Wonder-"if you really love me, won't you tell me?"

Robert Palmer-rest in peace(80's) Phoebie Snow,Boston, Ambrosia,Boz Scaggs. Howard Jones, The Clash, PetShop Boys, Fixx,I'm publicly admitting now that I liked 80's music. Is that lame? Sigh; the shame. shhh..don't tell..I own Bread's Anthology.

Movies:

All of the Alien movies. Any Scorcese movie or Spike Lee Joint. Any movie with Deniro, Pacino, Denzel, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, and Ray Liotta. Of the newer generation, Mark Ruffolo, Will Smith and Don Cheadle, Collin Ferrell? Maybe. Ferrell needs a good vehicle to act in, right now he seems to be quite the man-ho.-
Political & Corporate Thrillers
Some movies that I like...
Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games, Enemy of the State, Machurian Candidate, JFK, Wallstreet, Platoon and anything Oliver Stone; Apocolyspe Now; 13 Days; All the President's Men;Hunt for Red October; Crimson Tide; No Way Out; L.A. Confidential, Copland, 16 Blocks, Goodfellas, The Departed, The Last Samuri

The movie Amores Perros (love of dogs)
A great movie from director Alejandro González Iñárritu, whom also directed the films 21 Grams and Babel-he's a comer;he's new to me so I'm all into to him now; he gets a hold of a good story and makesemotional, thought provoking films, that peel away the illusions of humans-he shows you the rawness, fragility, pains, hopes, dreams; disappointments, truths, lies and emancipations. Salude su vida y'all! Trust me. After you see this movie you will.
*Breaking news 1-23-07: Oscar nomination for Babel!.Babel could've used a little more editing though on the sufferage-guess that's why The Departed beat them out at the Oscars for Best Edited film
Mike Nicols directed films and classic Dustin Hoffman,(the Graduate) though I like Hoffman's and John Voight's modern role transitions.

I like the chick flicks on Sundays; romantic, sappy, comedies-with the usual suspects...meg ryan, julia roberts, jlo.; or a bit more substance with Streep,Annette Benning or Angie Bassett.
Yes,-The Lifetime Channel--I like those crazy Tragic Heroine movies too:
*Norma Jean & Marilyn w/ Ashley Judd,
*Me and my Shadows, The Judy Garland Story
*The Color Purple
*Gone with the Wind
*Halle Berry's Why do Fools Fall in Love, and The Dorothy Dandridge Story
*The Josephine Baker Story w/ Lynn Whitfield
*The original dreamgirl Dianna Ross's, Lady Sings the Blues
*The Lifetime Channel movies about Jackie O-"A Woman Named Jackie," and the Betty Broderick Story with Meredith Baxter. Betty Broderick? Questionable tragic heroine; Let me think. OK. She was a crazy b****! But she took one for the team.
*There's not a good movie about it yet, but the Princess Dianna story. Ava Gardner, Bette Davis, Kate Hepburn, Joan Crawford are favorites too.

Let us not forget the great one..Francis Ford Coppola. Most Clint Eastwood directed movies. Brad Pitt-come one people! he was great in "Seven"-but I can't explain "Troy." -and yes, Tom Cruise..crazy or not; props Jerry McGuire.
Vin Deisel-er, um he has a certain appeal...definately visually stimulating cinema. Don't hate me true movieheads-I love Citizen Kane and Godfather Pt.2 as much as the next person-but Vin Deisel? Ladies, you know what I"m talkin' about .

Remember Tyson Beckford's Oscar worthy performance in Zoolander?

All the Ridley Scott directed films are good, and James Cameron's. I love waiting for big screen movies to come to video; I would like to take more time to view independent films, and not just commercial films with big studio money behind them. Lots of gems in those independents.
The Deerhunter: Deniro and Streep-A lovestory; love means never having to play russian roulette.

Frazier reruns, Columbo, Bio Channel, A&E, History and Discovery channels, Style Channel, TBS, TNT, E-Channel-aack!.Cable tv is a special place; it has brain melting power. Gee; TV sucks!...dammmmm.
