Just as light is diffused from a fire which is confined to one spot, so is this whole universe the diffused energy of the supreme Brahman. And as light shows a difference, greater or less, according to its nearness or distance from the fire, so is there a variation in the energy of the impersonal Brahman. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are his chief energies. The deities are inferior to them; the yakshas, etc. to the deities; men, cattle, wild animals, birds, and reptiles to the yakshas, etc.; and trees and plants are the lowest of all these energies....Vishnu is the highest and most immediate of all the energies of Brahman, the embodied Brahman, formed of the whole Brahman. On him this entire universe is woven and interwoven: from him is the world, and the world is in him; and he is the whole universe. Vishnu, the Lord, consisting of what is perishable as well as what is imperishable, sustains everything, both Spirit and Matter, in the form of his ornaments and weapons.
"OM NAMAH SHIVAYA" This mantra of Lord Shiva is recited for material and spiritual attainment.Of all the images of Hindu gods, that of Shiva particularly as Nataraja or Dancing Shiva, has won international esteem. In that image, Shiva is conceived as the embodiment of Eternal Energy, engaged in the five-fold activity (Pancha-Kritya)of creation,preservation,destruction, obscuration and salvation. It indicates cosmic activity. Shiva dances on the body of Apasmara purusha who represents the ego, ignorance, original sin or soul's illusion. By trampling upon him Shiva points out that wisdom consists in destroying the same.
“Ganesa is extremely fond of wisdom, the sweet of bliss (ananda). For that, he is known also as "modaka priya."The gods were filled with happiness at the birth of Ganesa and Karttikeya and presented Parvati with a sweet that is called "great intelligence" and the "nectar of immortality." Its virtues include anyone who merely smells it will become immortal. He who eats it will become learned in the scriptures, skillful at weapons, knowledgeable in the Tantras, a writer and painter, one who has both worldly and spiritual knowledge.Ganehsa is the lord of wisdom and as such, he is depicted as rotund and gluttonous. His appetite for the bliss of immortality is unceasing. The liberated one sees himself in all beings and all beings in himself. This state reveals itself in eternal bliss. It is the liberated one alone who can be said to be immersed in everlasting bliss. Such joy is no longer precariously dependent on external stimuli but is irrevocably secured as a result of his inner transformation. It is externally indicated by the gentle smile that uniformly plays on the face of the liberated one.
Durga, in Sanskrit means "She who is incomprehensible or difficult to reach." Goddess Durga is a form of Sakti worshiped for her gracious as well as terrifying aspect. Mother of the Universe, she represents the infinite power of the universe and is a symbol of a female dynamism. The manifestation of Goddess Durga is said to emerge from Her formless essence and the two are inseparable.She is also called by many other names, such as Parvati, Ambika, and Kali. In the form of Parvati, She is known as the divine spouse of Lord Shiva and is the mother of Her two sons, Ganesha and Karttikeya, and daughter Jyoti. Destroyer of demons, she is worshiped during an annual festival called Durga puja, especially popular among Bengalis.She is usually pictured as having ten arms holding Sword, Conch, Discus, Rosary, Bell, Winecup, Shielf, Bow, Arrow, and Spear. She is most often shown riding a lion from which comes Her august name, Simhavahini, "She who stands astride the king of beasts". She is gorgeously dressed in royal red cloth and has several ornaments decorating Her personage. Her hair is dressed up in a crown (karandamukuta) which then flows out in long luxuriant tresses that are darkly luminous and soothing to the eye. The various tools reflects the eminent supremacy that helps in controling the universe and obey Her will.Goddess Durga exists eternally, always abiding in her own sweet nature and inhabits the hearts and minds of her ecstatic devotees. As Shakti power,she shapes,nurtures,and dissolves names and forms,while as subtle spiritual energy called Kundalini, She lights the lotuses fo the seven centres of awareness in the sacred human body. Goddess Durga killed the powerful demon Mahish and all his great commanders. When demonic forces create imbalance all god unite becoming one divine force called Shakti or Durga.
