5am Productions

The home of quality R&B

About Me

The 3 members of 5am Productions were brought together by Tony Bean, each bringing a distinct and eclectic flavour to the phunk of this quality production team.
5am were signed up to Polydor Records immediately in the 90's, and while working for the label, managed to set up their own base of operations, 5am Studio. They went on to sign with Motown and Warner Bros in the following years, all the time learning and cutting their teeth on major projects and artist development. They even released some of their own material on these labels, which gave them an artists' view of major label life.
After few good years of working at that level Tony felt it was time to create an outlet for their own projects that they could a&r and produce and release, it was the birth of 5am Records. The decision was made to delve into the quick turnover field of remix work to fund their own thing rather than getting bogged down with time consuming major label development and production work.
The first act to be signed to 5am Records was female gospel outfit Nu Life, whose debut single "Now That I've Found You" was released in 2001.
Being meticulous when it comes to their business, 5am secured a distribution deal with Universal, and even though they were on a massive learning curve, managed to put the single into the number 17 slot of the Music Week R&B Charts and achieve playlisting on almost every mainstream radio station in the UK. Realising that they had missed out on marketing in the Gospel music market, the guys decided to put a few things in place before the release of the album.
In 2005/6, 5am signed a deal to partner with US Gospel label Integrity Music to release their roster of Gospel music worldwide, after many many months of meetings and negotiations both in the UK and US. The Nu Life album finally got a release in March 2006 to rave reviews, and has now recieived a MOBO Award for best Best Gospel Artist/Album 2006.
Nu Life have also been nominated for an Urban Music Award. While doing all of this, the guys have managed to keep up with their remix duties, bangin' out mixes and hitting playlists for the likes of Lemar, Usher, Tyrese,Donnel Jones, Kelly Rowland, Joe, 411, and many others. What's next for 5am???............Wait and see!!!!!
