In Civilian Clothing "We Made A Killing We Made A Mess" LP - $11.99
This is a fantastic record for all of us romantics that stay up late at night thinking big thoughts to no one but the ceiling above us. At the end of the day "We made a killing, we made a mess" emerges as a standout of an overcrowded scene and genre. The ideas musically and lyrically are engaging enough that will satisfy those who are looking for good atmospheric pop music and those who enjoy good lyrics.

Berry "Marriage" LP - $11.99
Berry is every bit as interested in evoking an atmosphere as creating an actual musical soundtrack. After a pair of similarly toned and themed EPs (2003s Sunday Morning Breakfast and 2004s The Manor), the St. Louis quartet returns with their debut full length, Marriage, an album that perfectly displays the bands broad stylistic range and shifting sonic palette... The common element to it all is Berrys commitment to making sure something fascinating is always cooking in the spaces between the music.

Caleb Engstrom "Building Day One" LP - $11.99
On his Web site, Caleb Engstrom says: "I guess with all of this I'm trying to do something honest." His shimmering debut adds heft to those words--if honesty and Midwestern values ever were to have their own indie-folk troubadour, this flaxen-haired 21-year-old would be it. He's found religion (according to the bio on his site, church "played heavily" in his life); he knows hard work (he has a temp job in a factory in the dead of night); and he seems like a nice guy. Regardless of whether these things actually inform his songs, they certainly add to the Engstrom myth: Here's an earnest singer-songwriter with his feet firmly grounded (don't expect Ryan Adams-like behavior from this one--yet), his slightly wounded voice finding solace in gentle strumming, soft strings and loving piano, though he's never so precious that he doesn't venture into less melodic territory... A worthy disciple of the Nick Drake/Elliott Smith school.

Super Love Attack "This Up Here" LP - $11.99
Pioneering the use of the 'aircraft hangar' reverb setting, Super Love Attack deliver an immense album. The My Bloody Valentine influence is predominant, but the vocals play a much more important, and upfront part in SLA's sound. Big tunes, even bigger guitar sound, there's not much to dislike about such an approachable and consistent album.

The Shining Time "Help Is On The Way" LP - $11.99
This 9 song LP finds The Shining Time doing a bit of everything, but they're at their best when they aim for american indie-rock meets Stereolab. The drumming is crisp and enticing. The melodies are usually bright, playful and cheery. The guitars, bass and piano are definitely dancable... quirky, and just how you like it.

The Shining Time "This Is Where We Go" LP - $11.99
This Is Where We Go...is one experimental recording. A large focus and emphasis is put on atmospherics. The band pretty much sums it up when they recommend the listener to use headphones in the liner notes... a remarkable musical statement. Fun stuff.
