"Got You Twisted"

About Me

Sophia-Marie knows what life is about. Feisty, tough, raw, real, risk-taking and rule breaking, she has the ability to express herself with an edge that affects everyone who hears her and leaves them wanting more. Growing up in California USA, Sophia learnt to play the flute and piccolo and performed in concerts bands and even in swing bands at a young age. It was her voice, though, that drew the most attention. Constantly told by friends, family and teachers that she had a special gift, Sophia grew up with dreams of life as a performer. As a teenager she joined a rock band and it was here that she learnt to play the bass guitar. It seemed as if Sophia was ready to fulfil her dreams at an early age, but life had other plans and it would be fifteen years before Sophia would take the plunge into professional music. The intervening years were not wasted though. Compiling thousands of CDs as diverse as techno, to thrash metal and even South American indigenous music; Sophia immersed herself in music and continued to sing and develop her voice. The result is a song writing style that is complete and original whilst still expertly intertwining traditional popular rock hooks and melodies. A new relationship beckoned Sophia to Australian shores, where she soon found herself ready to unleash her ability. Writing her first song in October 2006, Sophia has since exploded onto the Australian music scene and has tamed audiences in Perth and also Sydney, where she currently resides. So what is so interesting about Sophia? Simply put it’s her brutal honesty. Regardless of whether she is displaying the good, the bad or the ugly of her life experiences, her music reflects not only her inner bad-ass and often dark intensity, but also her soft and gentle side. This paradox has a hypnotizing effect that draws you into her music then grabs you with terrific force. Every song she writes says “Here are my emotions laid before you, now what’s your problem!?” Needless to say it wasn’t long before a well-known producer in Sydney recognized the potential of Sophia-Marie as a songwriter and performer, and offered to produce an album. In her typical self reliant style she decided not to sign to his label, but to sell the family home and fund the project herself. Not your cookie-cutter airbrushed type, Sophia-Marie brings to the music industry what it has been lacking: Real, unique and un-manufactured talent! With her debut single titled "Got You Twisted" soon to be released, Sophia-Marie is ready to be not only an entertainer, but herself.MEMBER OF A.P.R.A. AUSTRALIAN PERFORMING RIGHT ASSOCIATION LTD.
