About Pressure (aka Spiral S):
From a very young age, I was stuck with electronic music and the all meaning of dancing. Not that I didn’t hear other kinds of music. I have many influences. But everything started from Jean Michel Jarre, my “music” father. As the years passed, music was getting more and more in to my life. I heard many stiles such as pop, 80’s, classic, rock, some metal, and italo music.
I hear to all kinds of music. From classic music, especially baroque (I’ m a fan of Vivaldi) to nu metal. But my biggest interests are Techno, Hardcore, oldschool Breakbeat, Drum ’n’ Bass.I also have big interest to pure, hard and progressive Trance. And Gabba ofcourse!!!So many artist that made me decide what stile of music i prefer most and becoming a “psycho” raver:P To be honest my biggest love remains in Drum ‘n’ Bass and Trance
How i learned about this kind of music in Greece? Two names are the reason. Greg Staikos (as a dj and radio producer) and D base (as a radio producer).Without them I would have never gotten into the rave scene.
The music that many others like me adored and supported died in 1994.But somehow it still exists with new sounds through freestyle, nu breaks and nu school D'n'B. I loved the idea of keeping the history Drum ’n’ Bass and Trance alive in my country. When an opportunity of having a radio show appeared , i got ....CRAZY!
Break Alert Show :I started off as a radio producer in 1997 on Sky Rock 98. Great days! I still can’t believe how i survived in a rock/metal radio station for a year playing breaks, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Jungle and Gabba!!! The same year i met dj LIMITED at first and then the dj SUBURBIA crew which i joined and started djing at clubs. I started to make breaks and D'n'B productions at the same time. Clubs that i played with or without SUBURBIA were Mad club, Berlin, Orbit, Underground, Capital club (in Leukada), 7th heaven, Graffiti
Another radio stations that Break Alrt Show passed was Beat FM 103.4. However, the best period was on Blue Sky 107.2 where it stayed for one year till the last day of this radio station. Our radio show was reborned for a small period of 3,5 months in Free Fm 98.0.But didn;t last more...
About my music:
First time i got in touch with keybords and synth was nearly the age of 9 years old. My first synth was a very old Casio. That was my training. Unfortunately, my relation with notes and sol fez is the worst :p I could never manage to learn them. My luck of having a "music ear" helped me a lot. The opportunity of buying better synths with sequencers or making my own little studio was a CRAZY dream. My way of making tracks was to...primitive :s Really crazy and funny ways. Loops with breaks, recorded in tapes and playing music in real time. Taking samples from my ...Sega Megadrive...Tape-ing over tape-ing and playing real time. And many other crazy ways that i can't remember.
The first serious move was buying my first PC :p Nothing special but very good for a start. After that time, i could finally express my music ideas through music programs. From that year (1996-7), I've started making tracks
My first track was "Come Along". A poor dark Breakbeat with dark synth loop and breaks. My first Trance was "Nightfall". Then many other tunes followed. Some of them remained as ideas and others were completed. Luckily, i had the opportunity to play some of them in our radio show. Styles that i created were mostly old school Breakbeat, Drum 'n' Bass and Trance. But I've made also some Jungle and gabber tunes
In 1998 i made my one and only Live P.A. in Mad club. It was a great experience :)
As the time passing by old school Breakbeat and Hardcore became music for few and special ears. Sounds and productions changed. I still make some few old school style tracks. However, this is just for us. Funs of the old school that survived. Therefore, i decided to get in touch with the nu school Drum 'n' Bass seeing that there are really good tunes and sounds (especially dark ones.I 'm always a dark fan) that i would like to experience.
As Spiral S i make some Trance tunes that express my Trance side of me
