Argentine tango takes up a good part of my life... I do other things, too... really! Tango is exciting, fun, and not just something you can do in every major city of the world (whether it's New York, Paris, Rome, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Denver or Albuquerque): it's something unbelievably wonderful that lasts the rest of your life. Admittedly, it's not an easy dance to learn; it takes devotion, patience and a sincere effort, but hey, you get better just by dancing! How bad is that?
What type of partier are you? Your Result: The designated driver
You are the gem of any party, the rock, the one who can roll with the group and have a ton of fun, even though you are completely sober most of the time. You may have a rare occasional drink, but really don't need it or care if you have one. Your friends love that you're a cheap date as they insist on buying you a drink.
I enjoy having friends that challenge me and are passionate and thankful to be alive. I especially like folks that are willing to walk improvisationally (that would be tango dancing). I'm a romantic at heart. I'm a very loyal friend and like my friends to look out for their's, too. People that are a "reflection" of me but slightly tweaked -- a refraction; that's probably a good description of my current friends. No drug users. No smokers. No alcoholics. No mental nut cases. No unemployed / miserably employed guys. My friends forbid me from hanging around people with those "issues". Bottom line: YOU must be ready to be in a relationship, emotionally, physically and sure, to some extent, financially. Do not play games with yourself... or me. If you are ready, by all means, start a dialogue !! I just may be the best thing that ever happened to you. I promise I won't EVER be considered the worst.A few things about tango dancing (this video is at Cheesman Park Pavilion this past May 2007 and my partner is Oleh Kovalchuke): my eyes are closed the entire time! Argentine Tango is a completely improvisitional dance -- no set steps or patterns. The "follow" (often a woman but not always) "listens" to the "lead" so the "connection" at the torso is paramount. It may look good but it's really about how it "feels"... this Tango Dance is highly addictive -- beware!
My musical tastes are all over the place but I'm "sappy" so the Romantic/Nostaglia Era a'la Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc. Try to find something like that on the AM dial and that's pretty much me.
Smart, funny, stupid, irreverent: Casino Royale, Y tu Mama Tambien, Howard's End, The Cook The Thief His Wife Her Lover, KingPin, The Jerk, Munich, Syriana, Dr. Zhivago, Elvis' and Woody Allen Flicks, pretty much all over the place.
I don't own a television so don't watch much. I have seen and really enjoyed Ugly Betty; Masterpiece Theatre; Watch Over Me. I also don't own a microwave. I know! Weird. But I do have a cell phone!
Funny, irreverent books like ones by Tom Robbins. I used to read about 40 books a year because I don't have TV but now I tango dance; read a lot of financial stuff for work but not for fun.
As long as you REALLY, SINCERELY work at being a part of adding to someone's life instead of just focusing on what you can take, then you create positive karma. If you follow a passion and are excited to share that with someone. If you teach... anything... you are my heroes. Tech support guys that help me are my heroes for the day. My tango instructors that give me clarity are my heroes. A dancer that makes me feel beautiful and creative and able to express myself thru tango makes my day!!!
