Interesting people with a story to tell. Although i believe everyone has one somewhere inside them.
Very eclectic. Genres are mainly hip hop, soul, rock, pop, dance (but of the funkier variety i hate oonce oonce) 80s and early 90s stuff and emo. Ranging from David Bowie, A Tribe Called Quest, Nirvana, hellogoodbye, fugees, ty, Simon and Garfunkell, De La Soul, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Guns N Roses, Jurrasic 5, 80s electro, the kooks, whitesnake, Lupe Fiasco, the roots, justin timberlake, frank sinatra, dean martin, john legend, madonna, snoop, new order, french house and hip hop (oh anything with french lyrics is wonderful even if they were counting to 10 it sounds hot) latin music (especially when fused with house) and this weird new interest in late 80s early 90s rock (particularly power ballads) as well as everything in between. Generally lyrics that have meaning or a dirty beat, rap that flows like liquid poetry and makes you think, pop music that is catchy and great to boogie or sing along too or amazing guitar solos that are like going to the opera.
I love Gus Van Sant films particularly my own private idaho, Life is Beautiful, Amelie, Stanley Kubrick- particularly the shining, muriels wedding, the pianist, candy, breakfast at tiffany's, wizard of oz, grease requiem for a dream, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, paradise now, downfall, mainly independent films that are well crafted and make me reflect or see things differently and show the rawness of life. I also like documentaries, anything that broadens my mind up to new ways of thinking and am a sucker for film festivals, this year i went to so many films my eyes started to look a little square!
Nip/Tuck is brilliant in its satire and curb your enthusiasim is the most awkwardly funny thing ever. Current affair shows like 60 minutes and 20/20. Oh but i become obssessed with every single season of Americas Next Top Model. Also south park, little britain and all the stupid mtv reality shows like the hills and laguana and e!- i am obsessed with celebrity.
night by elie wiesel is the most brilliant book i have ever read, i also loved both James Freys books "a million little pieces" and "my friend leonard" until i found out that they were made up not memoirs! of course shakespeare, particularly "king lear", "romeo and juliet" and "a midsommers night dream", anything by toni morrison who is so gifted, albert camus is another favourite author particularly his essays on absurdism. yeah im a nerd i read philosophy for fun!! Also like a lot of new age books such as 'women who run with the wolves" and "the invitation", also "tuesdays with morrie" has to be the biggest tear jerker ever...and from childhood i love "the little engine that could."
People who fight against injustice and make positive change in the world even if it is in the smallest possible way and of course both my wonderful parents and my gorgeous nana! In terms of famous people...Anne Frank and anyone who survived the holocaust, Kurt Cobain for his sad and painful music that is so honest and disturbing at the same time, Oprah for her generiosity, Michael Moore for taking on Bush and fighting for the little guy and Hilary Clinton for being such a strong courageous woman.
