About Me

I'm just this guy, ya know?

My Interests

I rock out. When applicable, I rock out in more public places where there are bands playing live music. Rocking out at home in your underpants just isn't the same.

I spend an inordinate amount of time filling out sudokus. I also write haikus. I've even written a couple haikus about sudokos. But never sudokos about haikus. I'm not sure how that would work.

I also spend a lot of time researching, brewing and packaging beer. I also drink it. Hopefully this will cease being an interest and become a profession.

I'd like to meet:

I hate people. That goes double for you.

That doesn't mean I don't like to meet people. I just won't like them.

Music:

You're gonna make me list some bands, aren't you?

Well, I'm not going to.

Ok. Fine. Here's a few:

Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, Rolling Stones, Gogol Bordello, Firewater, Johnny Cash, Beatles, Primus, Clash, Cramps, Misfits, Public Enemy, Red Elvises, Dire Straits, Social Distortion, They Might Be Giants, Anthrax, Wu-Tang Clan, Aerosmith, Dave Brubeck, White Zombie, Pixies, Stravinsky, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop(and/or The Stooges), old school Metallica, Beastie Boys, Tool, James Brown, Hank Williams(and Hank3, but not Jr.), Gwar, Wagner, Billy Idol, Sarah McLachlan, Flametrick Subs, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Costello, Black Sabbath/Ozzy, Ministry, Peter Gabriel, Nick Cave, Mudvayne, Ludacris, Air, Brahms, Megadeth, Wynton Marsalis, Dead Kennedys, Miles Davis, Ani DiFranco, Bloodhound Gang, Dead Milkmen, Arrested Development, Dresden Dolls, Alice in Chains, Gorillaz, The Doors, Chuck Berry, Bad Religion, Bauhaus, Legendary Pink Dots, George Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic, Devo, any number of Mike Patton's projects, Cab Calloway, Nekromantix, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Kool Keith, Guns 'n Roses, Paul Simon, Flogging Molly, Depeche Mode, Creedence Clearwater Revival, System of a Down, Busta Rhymes, Beck, Xzibit, Alice Cooper, Skinny Puppy, Buzzcocks, Janis Joplin, Willie Nelson, Al Jolson, AC/DC, Wumpscut, Yin Yang Twins, the Damned, the Pogues, Brian Setzer, Scott H Biram, Motorhead, Ella Fitzgerald, Ramones, Nine Inch Nails, Motley Crue, Oingo Boingo, the Police, Reverend Horton Heat, Prince, Wilson Pickett and a lot of others.

I like when people tell me about new stuff I should listen to. I like it even more if the band is touring and I get a chance to see them live.

Movies:

I just filled out the music thing. Hopefully this won't take as long.

Most anything by:
Tim Burton, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Terry Gilliam, J&E Cohen, George Romero, Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Jim Henson, Alfred Hitchcock

Some things by:
Peter Jackson, Pedro Almdovar, Jim Jarmusch, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas

Absolutely nothing by:
Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer

And as for individual movies, it's probably easier to add me to your friends list on netflix.

Television:

This should be a much shorter list.

Most of [adult swim], The Simpsons, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, South Park, Ali G. Animal Planet/Discovery Channel/History Channel documentaries. Everything else I like(d) on television has been cancelled and is hopefully on dvd.

Books:

Thankfully, this is the last one.

Most stuff by:
Ken Kesey, Jack Kerouac, Thomas Wolf, John Irving, Herman Hesse, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman

Aw crap. I'm tired. And done with this listing stuff.

Heroes:

Homer Simpson.

Most real people aren't deserving of the title of hero.

So I've been saying for some time how I need to get a new dog for Dante to play with while I'm at work. With the new tethering ordinance taking effect, I figured people would be surrendering an abnorm...

flowcharts, rats, and other things

The past several weeks have been unnaturally hectic. I've started waking up for work about 2 hours earlier so I can get to work early. The reasons behind this are many-including ability to have some t...

an eye for an eye

For the longest time I had always felt that capital punishment was wrong. However, the argument had always been posited to me "what if someone close to you was murdered?" and I never had an answer. I ...

Well, after about 4-5 weeks since my last interview and constantly trying to get the attention of HR in Ireland, I found out today that I'm not getting the job. Mind you, I didn't find out from anyone...

If you follow my sporadic blog postings, you might recall that at the beginning of the month, I had a couple of grievances that just seemed like a spate of bad luck. One could just argue it away as if...

mandatory memorial day reading

I'm so tired of ignorant jingoism. Have been for years. As I'm not one for brevity, I'd have plenty to say on the subject, which tends to reach a crescendo on Memorial Day and 9/11. However, consideri...
